Very refreshing to see ManU playing with lots of guts and determination and also, not just with one, but often with two solid defensive lines.

Rooney is a good player but he does give the ball away far too often with clumsy passes. He then often immediately wastes lots of energy in determined runs to try and get the ball back again.

1-1 was a fair result, IMHO, and 'Good Luck' to them in the next leg. Bayern are really going to miss their Schwein Tiger next time round, who was the only one in this match, who managed to get the ball into the net.

... and Chelski had the softest draw !!!

The agent of Romelu Lukaku has admitted he has already held talks with Tottenham over a summer move to White Hart Lane.
As first revealed by Telegraph Sport last week, Spurs have placed Chelsea striker Lukaku at the top of their summer hit list.
Lukaku has spent the season on loan at Everton, scoring 13 goals in 26 games, but is set to be part of Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho's clear-out of his forward players.
Chelsea value 20-year-old Lukaku at £25m, which will make it difficult for Everton to sign the Belgian permanently.
Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is prepared to fund a move for Lukaku and offer him a significant rise to his current £40,000-a-week wages.

Lukaku's agent Christophe Henrotay told Belgium newspaper Het Nieuwsblad: "I'm looking for a club for Romelu. And yes, I've talked to Daniel Levy once, but that doesn't mean Romelu will definitely join Spurs. That's not a talking point at this moment.
"There aren't 20 teams that can afford to buy Romelu. He won't go from Everton to, let's say, Swansea. There's also a difference between Everton that plays against relegation and an Everton that fights for European football.”

Lukaku is a Chelsea player until Jose says otherwise. End of.

Probably his biggest mistake this season was allowing him out on loan - mind you if he'd stayed he would have had to fight Torres, Eto'o and Ba for a place

Torres is on £175,000 a week and has two years of his contract left. Chelsea will reputedly have to pay him £10million to get rid of him before his contract ends.

Who is Joey Barton to say Rooney isn't a world class player. If Linekar, Shearer, or Michael Owen made a comment like that it might carry some weight, but the trouble with Barton is, a) he thinks he is/was a better football player than he is/was, b) he thinks he is more intelligent than he is, c) he thinks he can fool people into believing a & b !

Well yes I agree doodles, Barton isnt a fantastic footballer but just like you me and chris he as the option in a democratic country like ours to express an opinion and by the way Linekar, Shearer and Owen werent world class players , so that argument doesnt carry any clout.

The last truly world class player (definition .......player who would be in an historical world 22 squad at any one time)England had was Paul Gascoigne.

This use of the word world class gets used too often and out of context.

To give you an example of British players in the last 20 years who have been called world class just name one who moved abroad and lit up the World.................answer...........perhaphs just 2 Rush and Brady and then again thats debatable.

If your looking at truly British World class players look at Banks, Wilson, Moore, Charlton, Best, Jennings, Law, Daglish, Gascoigne, and maybe Giggs and Keane and Cleverly in their pomp, the rest are a myth.

Strictly my opinion but all you have to do today (or anytime) is compare the number of British footballers playing abroad at top clubs or any clubs compared to the lads from abroad playing here.

Not a level playing field though is it GF, impossible.. to judge who or which players are as you describe 'world class'. Money rules. Gareth Bale (in his position) arguably is world class. The only rule of thumb is as you have stated above the squads picked for the World Cup by the respective British managers in their opinion. The Best Of British?
