halifax - 29 Jul 2009 16:23 - 277 of 3666

cynic once again you prove our point you think you are the teacher, whereas you don't realise you are surrounded by teachers, but unfortunately you can't listen or see, which means you must be deaf and blind, malheureusement.

cynic - 29 Jul 2009 16:36 - 278 of 3666

teacher? moi? ..... not even a rabbi!! ..... however, i certainly learnt to read the question and to answer it, though frequently not by just regurgitating the party line ...... how come you didn't the learn just the basics if you are a teacher?

halifax - 29 Jul 2009 16:49 - 279 of 3666

....of course you always answered correctly, what a clever guy you are, but please don't be an ostrich look around and listen to other opinions and see the alternatives there may be many answers to a question especially when dealing with the stockmarket.

cynic - 29 Jul 2009 16:59 - 280 of 3666

i do most of those things, otherwise there are numerous shares in which i would not invest (or short), or have done in the past ...... but now answer the question(s) i asked ......

why do you not stand up and admit when you make a wrong call?
why, if TLW, is so overpriced in your perfectly valid opinion, have you not put money with mouth and shorted it?

halifax - 29 Jul 2009 17:07 - 281 of 3666

cynic TLW is of no interest as it is far too expensive, perhaps you could have a look at the market cap. in relation to earnings, do we need to "teach" you to suck eggs? Is there any chance of a dividend ever being paid?(rather like DGO).

cynic - 29 Jul 2009 17:22 - 282 of 3666

for all that WHY HAVE YOU NOT SHORTED TLW?

not interested in divi and i dare say you are right re price to cap, but the bald facts of the matter are that
a) TLW has found oodles of easily extractable oil (don't sidetrack re pipeline)
b) the market loves them
c) they are a potential t/o target, though that should not be a cause to buy
d) i have done handsomely out of this share both now and in the past, and so long as i stay vigilant, should bank plenty

DGO is a slightly different kettle of fish.
though there is a potential though arguable problem that 52% is already owned by ENOC, Turkmenistan has HUGE reservoirs of oil and gas and other resources which have yet to be developed.

halifax - 29 Jul 2009 17:28 - 283 of 3666

cynic why should TLW be a takeover target, their production is miniscule compared to the majors, their portfolio is spread over a number of countries which are not particularly politically stable, cost of developing some of their discoveries is prohibitive at present?

cynic - 29 Jul 2009 17:43 - 284 of 3666

i don't particularly agree with your view on TLW's proven reserves or problems with extraction etc, and indubitably the oil majors are pretty desperate to add to their own stocks ...... taking over a company that has already done the hard work for them is a very cheap way so to do - viz IEC!

further, very few countries with oil and other natural resources are what you would want to call safe or stable or even friendly, but some are a lot less risky than others, among which i would include uganda, ghana and nigeria, though there are others

anyway, the real bit of importance lies in the share's performance, and at least for the time being, TLW is heading solidly north

halifax - 29 Jul 2009 17:53 - 285 of 3666

cynic until the ramped up bubble bursts!

Balerboy - 29 Jul 2009 18:44 - 286 of 3666

DEUCE!!

aldwickk - 29 Jul 2009 19:12 - 287 of 3666

Is Africa any more risky then Russia ? Even BP had trouble there. If they take a dislike to you they say your company owe's the state a few billion in tax .

cynic - 29 Jul 2009 20:17 - 288 of 3666

a lot less so imo ...... halifax is so busy making shoddy that he cannot admit a wrong call .... indeed TLW may crash, but hopefully not before i have taken a decent profit ..... is it being ramped at all? ..... not such an obvious call as it has a far from tweensy cap of about 7.9b from memory, makes a very high operating profit margin (6 times higher than BP) and even pays a divi (unimportant!)

dcb - 30 Jul 2009 07:49 - 289 of 3666

AFR announce they have secured a rig to develop the Ebok field.
not exactly earth-shattering news, but at least it puts some sort of progress expectations in the diary, and thus further interest in sp
