robinhood - 17 Nov 2005 16:42 - 288 of 1525

as much as i would like to see an uplifting rns tomorrow, i do not think that will happen prior to NICE report being made public

guru11 - 18 Nov 2005 23:07 - 289 of 1525

2.5p will be a real barrier to break, let alone 3p,
badly needs orders - and from the NHS as well, - just like EQT did one year ago.

Fair value at present until the orders come in.

As reported on Ultrasis site :

National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence Health Technology Appraisal of Computerised Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for Depression and Anxiety.

NICE has nearly completed its very structured process for the above review. The last phase of the process allows for an opportunity to appeal against the final draft of the recommendations. An appeal against the Final Appraisal Determination was held on November 17th. This was attended by Ultrasis in the capacity of interested members of the public. As such Ultrasis was not allowed to make comment on the discussion or question any of the proceedings.

The appeal was made by ST solutions specifically against the recommendations regarding OCFighter a CBT product for the treatment of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. At no time in the proceedings were the draft recommendations for Beating the Blues discussed.

The result of the appeal was not made public at the meeting. This is standard NICE practice. If the appeal is successful ST solutions will be informed within 21days.

As expected the appeal process is likely to defer the date for publication of the final Guidelines to the NHS beyond Nov 2005. Ultrasis has requested NICE to update its website with the new date of publication as soon as this is known. Whilst this delay is still frustrating for us, there is little we can do about it. Ultrasis will continue to communicate any further updates via our website. Please continue to resist calling us or NICE directly regarding this matter as answering these calls does take up valuable resource.

CONTRACT RENEWAL

As reported on Ultrasis site

Following the success of a major initiative to promote mental health well being, one of the UKs largest Primary Care Trust (PCTs) has renewed its licence for the Ultrasis Relief Series for a further three years.

The Relief Series a web based self-help package which uses proven Computerised Cognitive Behavioural Therapy techniques (CCBT) has been central to the Wigan In Mind initiative launched this year to the 310,000 people served by the Ashton Leigh and Wigan PCT.

As part of the high profile scheme, which involved the distribution of self-help booklets to all libraries and community venues across the borough, the multimedia programs have been made available to everyone via the internet. The aim is to identify, educate, motivate and monitor people suffering from anxiety, depression, stress and insomnia.

Jan Campbell , Health Development Manager for Ashton, Leigh and Wigan PCT explained: Our objective with Wigan in Mind was to devise a scheme to tackle the increasing levels of stress and depression-related problems. The Relief Series is working really well because it is easy to use and permits complete privacy as well as 24 hour accessibility. It has been taken up both by individuals and local companies including HJ Heinz, whose HQ is in Wigan. Now the service is really becoming established, it makes sense to extend it for a further three years.

John Marshall, Mental Health Commissioner for the PCT added: The use of the Relief Series fits perfectly with Department of Health policies on self-management and choice with regard to mental health issues. Since the launch of Wigan in Mind many local people have used the service and although its early days, feedback has been very positive.

Ultrasis Sales Director, John Smith, commented: Were delighted to be renewing the licence for the Relief Series for another three years. During this time, we shall be working closely with Ashton, Leigh and Wigan PCT to further develop the program to even better suit their requirements.

For further information about Ultrasis, please contact Dr Charlie Martin or Nigel Brabbins on telephone +44 (0)20 7566 3900 or email to info@ultrasis.com

28 November 2005

ULTRASIS PLC

MORE PATIENTS BEATING THE BLUES IN WILTSHIRE

Patients with mental health issues who live in Wiltshire are set to benefit from
the extension of innovative drug-free treatment, thanks to the latest agreements
to be signed with interactive healthcare specialist, Ultrasis plc.

Following positive feedback from both GPs and patients, Swindon Primary Care
Trust (PCT) has renewed for a further two years its licence for the Beating the
Blues programme developed by Ultrasis. Such has been the success of the Swindon
pilot scheme that two neighbouring PCT's, Kennet and North Wiltshire PCT and
West Wiltshire PCT, are now also set to introduce Beating the Blues.

In addition, the three PCTs are to launch another of Ultrasis' successful
interactive healthcare programmes - the Relief Series - which is a suite of
programmes designed to help identify and alleviate the symptoms of anxiety,
depression, stress and insomnia.

Beating the Blues is a Computerised Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CCBT)
programme designed for the treatment of mild to moderate depression. Current
appraisal from the National Institute of Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE)
recommends that Beating the Blues is available to all patients via the NHS and
the initial results in Swindon certainly bear this out.

Swindon GP Peter Crouch is very pleased with the progress made by patients at
his surgery. 'I think the main advantage of Beating the Blues is that it is very
easy to use and patients can follow it at their own pace, tailored to their
particular symptoms such as depression, anxiety or a mixture of the two. I have
found that patients who have completed the course become less dependent on our
services because the process encourages self-reliance.'

Geoff Degg, Joint Mental Health Commissioner for Swindon commented: 'The results
from the Beating the Blues trial support our belief that a drug-free, self-help
approach can be highly beneficial with a number of mental health issues. By
introducing the Relief Series as well, we can extend this proven approach to
help tackle problems which affect a significant proportion of the population'.

Alison Middleton, Mental Health Commissioner for Kennet and Wiltshire, added:
'We've watched with interest the results of using Beating the Blues in Swindon
and we're very pleased to be introducing this and the Relief Series as part of a
population-wide programme for health promotion and well being which is being
funded in part by the joint commissioning board for mental health.'
Nigel Brabbins, recently appointed CEO of Ultrasis commented: 'As the use of
interactive healthcare becomes more widespread in the UK, Dr Crouch and his
colleagues at Swindon PCT will get the recognition they deserve for being at the
vanguard of adopting a new approach to treatment of depression and anxiety, as
part of an overall strategy for dealing with mental health issues.'
