OLYMPICS, LONDON 2012, What do you think ? (OLYM)

required field - 25 Jul 2012 19:07

Though I'd start a thread as this is an event that all of us will only experience once in a lifetime......to me the best part will be the legacies with the superb infrastructure left behind....

Yes - I wonder if François Hollande is still as smug.

Dil - 02 Aug 2012 16:27 - 30 of 64

Dil - think she has been Chinesed!

Dil - 03 Aug 2012 00:22 - 32 of 64

Aye , we beat world record then Chinese beat our world record and the bloody Germans win Gold !!!

As good as Hoy and co were and the best team won no doubt , that dive to get a restart can't be right can it ?

Some unfair referees in Olympic.
Beach volleyball, Russia went out as referee decided a ball was in after initially saying that it was out. The mark on the floor showed it was completely in.

two nights ago boxing, Iranian guy who was ahead and was playing great disqualified by the referee. BBC commentator was astonished by the decision and thought the other opponent should be disqualified as he was turning around (180 degree) and putting himself (his head) in danger.

Is anyone looking at these decisions? It was promised, at the start of the game, that the referees will be fair.

Dil - and he admitted doing it in the interview afterwards!

Good start to the Athletics - Central Line Tube suspended between Liverpool Street and Leytonstone due to signal failure.

Well that puts us above France, Germany & Italy :-)

Great Britain won its fourth Olympic gold in 24 hours - and sixth in total - as Katherine Grainger and Anna Watkins triumphed in the women's double sculls.

Tremendous performances all round.....bravo team UK as it should be called.....usual crap from the soccer team.....what on earth do they do on the training ground that lot ?.......these are fulltime soccer players...not part time players...and yet.....so poor..it's ubelievable.....only towards the end of the game were they any good moves.....sad....but there you go....

dreamcatcher - 04 Aug 2012 22:27 - 37 of 64

Fantastic from the GK (UK) team....bravo....only the football team has let us down...otherwise really superb !....

Absolutely fantastic from Team GB athletes, the atmosphere in the stadium is electric well done to the spectators as well. Jessica and Mo were under terrific pressure to perform as the expectations did not allow for defeat, thankfully neither were found wanting, and for Jessica to come in 1st in the 800 was superb.

Personally I don't think football or tennis should be in the Olympics.

It is a bit weird that the tennis pros are there......anyway Murray has done the UK proud....

required field - 06 Aug 2012 09:07 - 42 of 64

Fab Bolt...100m......and who's the moron that threw a bottle ?...

2517GEORGE - 06 Aug 2012 09:15 - 43 of 64

Terrific race all finishers sub 10sec. Can't say I enjoy the circus antics of some of the runners much (including Bolt) but great race all the same. Well done also to Christine Oh. in the 400 metres, silver to add to her gold from 4 years ago.

The male athletes have come up short, apart from the 2 gold medals and the sprinters doing as well as could be expected, the rest seem to have disappointed. For a nation with such a pedigree in 400, and 1500 metre runners the current crop are below the norm.

40 medals....superb performances.....the Russians have the same amount but they have been a bit unlucky with the gold.....winning mostly silver and bronze....the Aussies aren't doing so well either this time round...

I had to smile (or was it cry?) when Sturridge took his penalty kick.

He ran up and paused before kicking the ball, as though to trick the goalie into moving or maybe check which way the goalie was going to move.

The goalie moved to Sturridge's right.

Sturridge then kicked the ball straight to the goalie!

Aaaaaargh! Noooooo! That's not how you do it! You should have kicked it left! 'Struth!

An easy save for the goalie!

2517GEORGE - 07 Aug 2012 11:33 - 47 of 64

It is so obvious why the England team always lose penalty shoot-outs, they have been conditioned to play the ball backwards for 90% of a match, so when they take a penalty they do what comes naturally----they pass it back to the keeper.
