** NEW Charts - Beta Test ** (BETA)

James(MoneyAM) - 13 Apr 2005 18:13

Hello all.

We have been developing a new charting section, and this is now ready for a bit of beta testing :-)

To access this beta version please click on the image below.

Any feedback would be gratefully received.

James.

NEW Charts

James(MoneyAM) - 11 May 2005 19:21 - 28 of 48

Hi everyone,

We have made quite a few changes to the new charting section, and plan to go live in the next couple of days. For the time being, they can still be accessed by clicking the chart image at the top of this thread.

Thanks again for all of your feedback, we've incorporated your suggestions where possible, and plan to make further additions in the future.

Here are some of the changes we have made:

Intraday charts
Live Intraday charts (for Active users and above)
Custom charts now prefills boxes with example values
End of day charts (Basic and Custom) now have a "Plot Current Intraday Price" option
Basic and Custom charts now have more ranges and more sizes
Changing certain values automatically fetches a new chart
"Paste Chart to Bulletin Board" option
Security name on chart
Four "Compare To" boxes

Once again, any feedback about bugs or additional features you would like would be appreciated.

A few further things that I should mention:
1. "Old Java Streaming Charts" have been incorporated as it is not possible to draw trend lines on the new charts.
2. The "Paste Chart to Bulletin Board" URL is very long. I'm looking at ways to reduce this.
3. I changed the URL format slightly today, so any previous links to the new charts may be broken. Please let me know if this is a problem and I will explain what needs to be changed.

James.

James,

First of all- the new charts are a major improvement - keep up the good work!

But...............

Using custom charts, when I put the parameters 3-10-16 in for the MACD indicator, the 3 parameter is coming up as 20. Thought I'd let you know.

IanT(MoneyAM) - 12 May 2005 13:17 - 30 of 48

vincie,

Which of the 3 boxes are you entering the 3 parameter in, as I am unable to reproduce this

Ian

vincie - 12 May 2005 13:40 - 31 of 48

IAN,

I'm using the indicator graphs at the bottom of the custom charts, and putting the 3 parameter in the first box.

vincie,

Unfortuantely, 20 is the lowest etting for that parameter.

Why is it that when i switch from Trades to Chart,i have to enter the epic ,it used to be the same epic as the one i was watching.JB.

IanT(MoneyAM) - 13 May 2005 11:41 - 34 of 48

Jimmy,

We are going to put a fix in for this so that it will remember what you were looking at when you go into it.

Ian

jimmy b - 13 May 2005 11:44 - 35 of 48

Oh good , only a small point, but it was better the old way, thanks Ian..JB..

mickeyskint - 13 May 2005 16:26 - 36 of 48

Got to say guys, great charts. The best of all the boards, well done. Can you create a chart that tells me what stocks to buy that will be a certain multi bagger.

IanT(MoneyAM) - 13 May 2005 16:29 - 37 of 48

mickey,

Thanks for the feedback,

Cheers

Ian

crystalclear - 14 May 2005 03:18 - 38 of 48

Example showing that share splits are not handled too well
Share spits aren't handled great.

Yoyo - 14 May 2005 09:25 - 39 of 48

When looking at an INDU chart over say 2 or 3 years the line does not seem to fill the page like it used to. The VOD chart you have pasted at the top of this thread is good as it does fill the page. Also there used to be a better subdivision between each month with a vertical line for each.

IanT(MoneyAM) - 16 May 2005 07:47 - 40 of 48

Crystalclear/Yoyo,

I will get the tech guys to take a look into this,

Ian

Yoyo - 30 May 2005 10:16 - 41 of 48

The INDU chart is now looking much better across time span of year or more.
The DEX. needs to be adjusted in same way.

Yoyo,

I will get James to take a look,

Hi everyone,

Just a quick update of the recent changes we've made to the new charts.

Thanks again for all of your feedback, I've gathered up all the points that aren't answered here and will make my way through them.

> is there any chance we can have intraday charts as bar charts instead of just line?

added.

> re streaming charts, one minute candles with live volume building below wd be great on the ftse.

you can now select candles, ohlc and hlc on the intraday charts. you can select a level of detail down to 1 minute for line charts. however, for candles, ohlc and hlc charts, the smallest level of detail that can be drawn is 3 minutes.

> The bad scaling is caused by a glitch in the 'show current intraday price' code.

fixed.

> Intraday Charts are including 2 days for the weekend, eg. a 5-day chart viewed on a tuesday shows only 3 days worth of data.

fixed.

> When looking at an INDU chart over say 2 or 3 years the line does not seem to fill the page like it used to.

fixed.

> My 7-day chart is the same as the 5-day, and it's in 2-day increments; so I can't see the closing movements each day.

fixed.

> Am getting 'undefined formula' messages in the coloured key when selecting more than one Overlay: BBI/SAR/Bollinger Bands in basic charts. One overlay works fine.

fixed.

> when i switch from Trades to Chart,i have to enter the epic ,it used to be the same epic as the one i was watching?

fixed.

James.

Yoyo - 13 Jun 2005 12:36 - 44 of 48

James, is there any chance you can do the same thing to the DAX chart that you did to the INDU chart to improve the look for the time span of 1 year and more?

IanT(MoneyAM) - 13 Jun 2005 12:56 - 45 of 48

Yoyo,

I will get James to take a look,

Ian

IanT(MoneyAM) - 13 Jun 2005 13:52 - 46 of 48

Yoyo,

The 1 year Dax should be back to normal now,

Ian

optomistic - 04 Jul 2005 21:26 - 47 of 48

Ian, could you have a look at the chart for RNK please. I'm getting a price range from 2000 to 26000.
Thanks
