Maybe Gausie,

The chef in here is pretty dynamic. Why don't you pursue him into the kitchen to ask?

vasey - 03 Feb 2003 10:40 - 282 of 23498

biffer: well, I know have a copy in the c drive and I've been looking at the accumulated properties, which suggest that there should be about 32MB recorded. That makes sense since the used space on the CD says 39.3mb has been used, ie it's full. But still struggling to open all the files and folders that I can see on the CD layout page. Surely just double clicking on any of the files should open that document?

Biffer - 03 Feb 2003 10:45 - 283 of 23498

vasey, yes it should I'd have thought. Have you tried dragging one of the files from the CD to another directory and then opening that? Or tried to open one of the files directly from Word?

vasey - 03 Feb 2003 11:18 - 284 of 23498

Biffer, I've just opened word (via Start/Programs/MSWord) and tried to open the file from the new folder I created in the C drive. Nothing!

Biffer - 03 Feb 2003 11:42 - 285 of 23498

Err looks like the disk is not any good (to state the obvious).

I've got version 4 of adaptec easy creator and just tried it out.

Fired it up, selected create data CD, dragged a word file into the CD layout, then burned the CD and then came out of adaptec.

Then in explorer I clicked on the CD and the document was there (with it's Word icon). I then double clicked on Word and it openened the document.

I don't know what to suggest other than to try it again I'm afraid.

Good luck.

vasey - 03 Feb 2003 12:01 - 286 of 23498

Biffer, thank you. I am having a minor breakdown but at least it proves it doesn't seem to be anything I've done. I'll go and buy another CD and try again. I really appreciate your checking the process on your machine.

andycarr - 03 Feb 2003 13:30 - 287 of 23498

vasey

Try using the Direct CD part of the program (rather than Easy CD creator). This will allow you to format the blank CD and then drag and drop files to it just like you would between folders on your hard drive.

When you eject the CD (By right clicking the icon in your task bar) it will allow you to select the option to finalise the CD to work in any CD drive.

One other point, the version of Easy CD Creator you have will not work in Win XP. If you are still stuck and would like further advice on data backup and upgrading to XP drop me an email.

Good luck and stay calm!!

I've printed your comments, guys and I apologise to the regulars who are furious I've clogged up the thread this morning! (I'll give you a bath later, GD, to make up for the intrusion!) I'll rejoin the battle after the markets close.

jgp212 - 03 Feb 2003 14:28 - 289 of 23498

Good Afternoon All,

I need some advice!

I've been busy bleeding the radiators (7)
and all but one is not heating up.

First person who solves the problem will
enjoy free drinkies:-)

:-)

Kayak - 03 Feb 2003 14:30 - 290 of 23498

Check the pump is working. Otherwise it's likely to be the valve that switches between radiators and hot water (assuming you have a standard system).

vasey - 03 Feb 2003 14:31 - 291 of 23498

Either the thermostat has seized or the rad has clogged up...... (Do you want a bath too?!)

Kayak - 03 Feb 2003 14:38 - 292 of 23498

P.S. do you mean that one radiator is working or that all are working apart from one? I read it as the latter and vasey the former!

jgp212 - 03 Feb 2003 14:43 - 293 of 23498

Kayak,

Six radiators are working and hot, the one in my
study is slightly warm.

Mr Ashley James - 03 Feb 2003 14:49 - 294 of 23498

Jeff,

Sounds like you have an air bubble blockage.

Cheers

Ash

hilary - 03 Feb 2003 14:49 - 295 of 23498

jgp,

Is the pump pumping while you're trying to bleed them? If it is, try turning the stat down in order to turn the pump off and then bleed your rad.

Socrates - 03 Feb 2003 17:50 - 296 of 23498

jeffmack - 03 Feb 2003 18:02 - 298 of 23498

Jeff
The one that is not hot, undo the valve a litte so that water starts to come out, keeping a bowl in place to catch the water of course. Let it run out for a while and hopefuly this will clear the air.

jgp212 - 03 Feb 2003 18:37 - 299 of 23498

Many thanks for the advice all!

Will try in the morning and post the results.

Ash, LOL
