Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).
Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.
cheers GF.

3m,
The word twat isn't a word that I have any issues with when referring to others. I use the word regularly, my friends use it, my husband (fishfinger may wish to note) uses the word (often preceded by another word beginning in f) and my kids both use it.
I'm not sure why you would feel it crosses some kind of rubicon but, hey ho, each to their own I suppose. Clearly, you never read any of Ruth's posts on this forum....

At the end of the day, not a nice word to use. If you let your kids use/say the word well ? I will stop there.
The word twat has various functions. It is a vulgar synonym for the human vulva,[1] but is more widely used as a derogatory epithet, especially in British English. The word may originate from Old Norse þveit meaning cut, slit, or forest clearing.[1]

Dreams,
My kids are 19 and 20 respectively and each have their own apartments. I think they're probably big enough to make their own decisions now.

They are not children then (kids as you say).

Not worth the debate - if I heard one of the children using that word in which ever context they would get a bar of soap in their mouth.

They'd get a belt around the ear from me using language like that. My son to my knowledge never swears.
Actually Ive always known t--t as a pregnant goldfish.
Just shows how moral standards have dropped in this country.
Im now convinced Hilary is indeed a bloke and uses the opportunity to have Lily Savage moments on this board.
Everyone to their own but I despise this use of gender manipulation.

Obviously local colloquialisms apart - twat in the south east was always a lighthearted way of calling (normally a friend) an idiot or twit.

Exam results came out today - I don't think F'--- T--- was one of the grades. I am excited as my eldest great nephew has done exceptionally well. He has got 1 A, 5 B's, 3 C's a D and an A Pass. A long road ahead but hopefully on the right track.

It isn't the meaning of the word, but the intent with which it is used!
..._ _ _...
During my holidays with my 9 year old grand daughter and 11 year old brother, we had a chat about the "sex" education they had received at their school.
Very informative, I have been registered for the school next year.
Hilary, can come with me and hold my hand.
And I mean hand.

Why on earth would I ever want to hold your hand? I recall Martini saying once that you wear a tatty old suit and that you smell. I'd rather keep my distance if it's all the same.
