Pursuit Dynamics - A British success story in the making? (PDX)

Andy - 31 Aug 2003 11:58

Pursuit Dynamics plc is a UK based research and development company, which was founded in 2000 to develop and commercialise a revolutionary pumping and propulsion technology. Pursuit Dynamics (symbol: PDX) was listed on the Alternative Investment Market of the London Stock Exchange in May 2001.

PDX 25 Sonic.

The PDX Technology is a steam-based system that has applications in both pumping and marine propulsion. It is cheap to manufacture, extremely robust, contains no moving parts and is virtually impossible to block. Pursuit Dynamics owns 100% of the Intellectual Property Rights that surround the PDX Technology.

Pursuit Dynamics is now working towards the commercialisation of the technology it has developed.

Pursuit are rumoured to be close to closing their first deals, which may be in the food processing industry.

I know it's not the 4.00 I was asking for, but maybe someone listened after all! Here's to a good day tomorrow.

Independent Newspaper quotes "Hopes of an imminent deal" lifts PDX

sandrew64 - 09 Oct 2004 17:43 - 284 of 1003

Note in Sat. Telegraph:

Aim-listed Pursuit Dynamics, which has created a steam-powered pumping system, rose 7 1/2 to 150p on hopes that a steady flow of contract wins will be unveiled shortly. It is thought a deal with pub group Greene King could be on the cards.

Oakapples142 - 10 Oct 2004 09:37 - 285 of 1003

This is my Champion having bought in at 46p and many times resisted selling even at 161p. I have done much research but admit the possible deal with Greene King is news to me. For once perhaps mixing "Business with pleasure" will be welcomed. A "flow" of contracts could see this one reach 4 next year

sandrew64 - 10 Oct 2004 12:50 - 286 of 1003

Not been in as long as you and although don't have particularly large holdings in anything ,this is one of the largest holdings I have.Have always had a good feeling about this one and have also resisted selling on the highs. Let's hope our patience is about to be rewarded. S

undertaker - 10 Oct 2004 17:50 - 287 of 1003

I've been in this baby since 27p and will not be selling @ even 4, my LONGTERM target is 10.

nice

Oakapples142 - 11 Oct 2004 08:24 - 288 of 1003

Up 5p (3.3%) in first 20 mins - I am - off on holiday for a couple of weeks - look after this one for me will you - Oh how I hope they can come up with some good news this time around. Anyone know which newspaper may publish the SP daily - I know the times does not.

ssanebs - 11 Oct 2004 08:56 - 289 of 1003

a deal with heinz soups is imminent

Oakapples142 - 11 Oct 2004 09:02 - 290 of 1003

Where did you get that - soup and beer - what a winner - think I will delay my holiday (or even extend it !!)

sandrew64 - 13 Oct 2004 16:16 - 291 of 1003

What now!??! I thought we were talking imminent deals!

Dynamite - 13 Oct 2004 16:45 - 292 of 1003

Sandrew64- The problem with PDX is there is always an imminent deal. I sold PDX the other day at 150. When everyone gets fed up waiting it will drop back to 120 until the next imminent deal. We shall all buy again and either one day the deal will actually occur or we all get fed up again and sell again! Been in and out of this one lots, the best profit making share I have dealt with but for long term, not sure!

Andy - 13 Oct 2004 18:45 - 293 of 1003

Dynamite,

Agreed, but having seen the PDX with my own eyes, I feel that eventually it will be adopted by various industries, as it offers savings on space, waste, processing time, and, most importantly of all, SAVES MONEY!

I do wonder whether they are pushing potential customers too hard though in trying to clinch the first deal at a premium proce, as we have been close before, ie Cadbury's, but not actually closed.

PDX seem to be considering leasing the devices, rather than the mooted "exclusive" deal with one company per industry that they originally preferred.

0284966 - 14 Oct 2004 22:27 - 294 of 1003

Interesting to see rush of buys in last 45 mins of trading today, over 100,000 bought.
Announcement soon ?

legend290782 - 15 Oct 2004 13:22 - 295 of 1003

cadbury's is the one i have heard about... the good thing is is that any of these licensing deals rumoured are not with minnow companies. Guy i spoke to reckons these will be 5 quid by feb... no inside info, just a good company. I haven't heard anything bad about the company.

sandrew64 - 23 Oct 2004 15:38 - 296 of 1003

Any thoughts on this one. I'm assuming by the sp this week that the deals we all heard rumours about are probably not happening, especially as we've had no news flow. I have a lot of faith in the pump and its uses but fail to understand why they can't seem to close a deal. As this is one of my largest holdings, considering reducing significantly.

Andy - 24 Oct 2004 15:01 - 297 of 1003

sandrew64,

I have to agree, there have been a few false dawns here, and the chart clearly shows that.

I must admit to also being frustrated that they can't "close a deal", and maybe they are being too aggressive in their negotiating? They do seem to have altered their stance from the earlier days, when they were looking to sign 'exclusive' deals in each industry sector.

To be honest, I always thought that was a mistake, and it seems to have been replaced now with a leasing offer, but we really need to see the structure of the first deal, when it's signed! to calculate the sort of return and profits PDX will generate in the future.

To call it a "pump" is a mistake, IMHO, as it's more accurately described as a processing unit. The unit has many different functions, and is currently being trialled in a diverse group of industries across Europe.

I do feel what the unit offers is revolutionary, and I personally feel that it's a question of "when", rather than "if" a deal is forthcoming.

In particular, the possibilities in the Alberta Oil Sands offer huge potential, IF they can be realised!

I feel comfortable with PDX, but you seem to have a large position in terms of overall percentage of your portfolio. I have learned, (rather painfully), in the past, that position sizing within a portfolio is paramount, and if one stock dominates, there is a risk of a bad knock if it falls, although conversely there is significant potential for a large increase in value too!

I try and have a few stocks around the same level, and nothing more than 20% of total portfolio size.

I still believe in PDX, they recruited a sales team to start in September, so hope to see some fruits of their labours in the not too distant future!

sandrew64 - 25 Oct 2004 23:48 - 298 of 1003

There were nearly 10x more buys than sales today, most within a half hour and the price didn't alter a bit. Why?

Andy
I agree with you that it is a case of when and not if, but that makes it all the more frustrating. At present pdx makes up 10-12% of my portfolio so not overexposed in that respect. Just looking for something to borrow from to top up a couple of other holdings that may move quicker. But knowing my luck as soon as I sell some of these they'll take off like a rocket and announce loads of deals.

Andy - 26 Oct 2004 00:29 - 299 of 1003

sandrew64,

That has hapenned to me recently too with Westmount!

As soon as I sold, I intended to cover with a spread bet, but didn't, and away they went!

Pursuit Dynamics plc ('Pursuit' or 'the Company')

Pre-close period statement

John Heathcote, Chief Executive of Pursuit Dynamics plc, the developer of the
PDX innovative fluid processing technology, will make the following comments
at meetings before the Company enters its closed period in respect of its
preliminary results for the year ending 30 September 2004, which will be
announced in January 2005.

'Since our shareholder update in early August, Pursuit has reached the next
stage in its commercialisation of the revolutionary PDX fluid processing
technology, following 6.5 million of investment over four years. We now have
clear returns from our marketing, advertising and sales programmes and our cash
position is comfortably strong. We have identified, and are developing, a range
of applications, from marine propulsion to the food and drink processing
industries, but our immediate sales and marketing focus is in the food
industry, which we believe offers us the quickest route to market.

'The food processing industry has always been a key target area given the PDX
's ability to pump, blend, mix and heat simultaneously and where a single PDX
can replace multiple capital items. We are confident we will book the first
sales in the next few months, following extensive interest from food
manufacturers and distributors. To achieve this, we will roll out our first
product, the PDX Sonic 25, in January 2005. This is a fully integrated, skid
mounted, `plug and play' system capable of processing liquid foods (sauces,
soups, stocks, marinades, jams, etc.) faster and cheaper than alternatives.
Typical performance advantages demonstrated against the widely used steam and
hot water jacketed vessels are a reduction in processing time from around one
hour to below five minutes, with direct energy operating costs of around 25
pence per tonne of process flow.

A further advance has been the success of our FireMist development programme.
This water mist generator can produce smaller water droplets and project them
further, and in greater volume, than any other system available today. FireMist
has attracted considerable interest from government agencies and major safety
equipment manufacturers around the world for use in fire fighting,
decontamination and disinfecting. Live fire suppression trials have recently
been successfully completed and decontamination and disinfection trials will
start shortly.

In addition to FireMist and the immediate target market of liquid foods, we
are undertaking field evaluations, or in-house trials, with industry third
parties in the paper, soft drinks and brewing industries. I look forward to
announcing further positive news throughout 2005.'

John Heathcote, Chief Executive

Looks like things could really satrt happening soon!!!!

Hopefully, although the statement is bullish, nothing new here really. I am awaiting the news over the next few months.
