Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).
Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.
cheers GF.

can rarely be bothered to respond to your verbal diarrhea, but in this instance .....
if the anti-assad crew had used the gas, why would assad's bunch not have welcomed UN inspectors with open arms instead of willfully delaying them?

You are right Cynic, Kurds want independence, they fight against three countries: Iraq, Iran and Turkey.
Muslims cannot live together in Syria. Probably it should split to two parts, Shia and Sonny.

Well I for one im fed up with this country policing the world. For gods sake we have a massive debt problem and deficit caused by the bankers.
Lets stop all this crap and look after ourselfs.
People are out sleeping on the street here due to the tories bedroom tax.
Stop the foreign aid stop the bombing abroad and strengthen OUR borders with the money wasted.
The savings would be substantial.
Camoron is another Tony Blair looking for world wide states manship.
Time he grew up and looked after this country. Dont ever forget London burned for 3 nights whilst he was roasting himself in France only a couple of years ago during the riots.
He couldnt sort that what makes him think he can sort something thousands of miles away.

sticky - don't confuse taking responsibility seriously as behoves a senior (in age) member of UN, NATO and the Security Council with putting troops on the ground
on a personal level, you may not give a shit whether or not assad sprays poison gas around or perhaps you are of the opinion (as i am) that you think some sort of action needs to be taken though you don't know quite what ...... but that is irrelevant to what the country's responsibility is as outlined in the first para

We're already mixed up in two unwinable wars, and Cameroon wants to open a nu one.
Aside from the money (which we haven't got), do todays pols not do history?

Lets RUN this country not other countries.

GF.
I have some sympathy for your stance and the increasing UK's economical and social problems under the inept CaMORON limit the values of UK support or interventions.
However, because of history and economic future we are involved in the ME.
How we play the present situation will be reviewed for years to come in the M.E. and alter their relationship with us.
"No Man Is An Island
No man is an island,
Entire of itself,
Every man is a piece of the continent,
A part of the main.
If a clod be washed away by the sea,
Europe is the less.
As well as if a promontory were.
As well as if a manor of thy friend's
Or of thine own were:
Any man's death diminishes me,
Because I am involved in mankind,
And therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls;
It tolls for thee.

This goes back to a reorganisation and rewriting of the "rules" of the UN.
Dan Dare, did it in 1951.
The UN needs teeth, more honesty and basic "decency".

The use of chemical weapons must be confronted because they have the power to cause mass deaths and most of those deaths are in the general population who are not involved in the conflict.

surprised you didn't observe that donne referred to europe only and thus m/e could be left to fend for itself :-)
================
i'm afraid that wishing for UN to have more teeth is just a pipedream of a pipedream .... totally impossible to rewrite the rules and have them accepted by even 15% of the members

Anyone know people in Cyprus? There have been extra air force movements there today and air strikes would come from the bases there. Look at the map. Being just off the west coast of Syria, it is within missile distance. Syria has already said there would be a strong response.

Manuel.
I did but my vision stretched further.
Someday the rules will be amended or the UN will become defunct like previous organisations.
