Referendum : to be in Europe or not to be ?, that is the question ! (REF)

required field - 03 Feb 2016 10:00

Thought I'd start a new thread as this is going to be a major talking point this year...have not made up my mind yet...(unlike bucksfizz)....but thinking of voting for an exit as Europe is not doing Britain any good at all it seems....

Maxk

On the news this morning.

I actually listened to the bloke that wrote the inspection report on Portsmouth Hospital ER.
The hospital chief replied, acknowledged the problem and apologised for it.
No mention that it was an In / Out. EU consideration.

That's all I know. Just what the experts said.

Please share if you know something else

iturama - 09 Jun 2016 09:31 - 2829 of 12628

I'm sure this is just gossip about Gideon (Giddy to his pals) and our Dave but stranger things have supposed to have happened. Pity the pig.

Natalie Rowe is the woman who outed Chancellor George Osborne as a masochistic cokehead. Yes, according to Ms Rowe the finances of the United Kingdom are in the hands of a man who likes to crawl around the floor having his arse slapped while under the influence of cocaine.
Ms Rowe candidly told Sonia Poulton of events at parties that were attended by the so-called elite including the now Prime Minister David Cameron. It seems that the illegal use of drugs is OK for the toffs but working class must serve time for possession, using and dealing.
It is said that Cameron’s wife, when in University, was known as Snowy; I wonder why?

cynic - 09 Jun 2016 09:59 - 2830 of 12628

what a load of garbage ..... let's trot out the ancient max mosley story but change the names

grannyboy - 09 Jun 2016 10:54 - 2831 of 12628

will10, you're so gullable...."That's all I know. Just what the experts said"

You come across as a 29 year old teenager who's just dropped out of uni...

Most of the older voters have been through the 'UNIVERSITY OF LIFE' and can see where the EU is heading.....

iturama - 09 Jun 2016 11:01 - 2832 of 12628

Why not? No more garbage than the stuff Gideon has been spouting. I haven't heard anyone being sued for the cocaine allegations which were in the newspapers. The beast of Bolsover was ejected from the Commons for repeating the allegations. Musn't disturb parliamentary decorum.

As for the size of the out win, I hope it is a landslide. But like Dave's immigration manifesto, that is an ambition, not a realistic target.

will10 - 09 Jun 2016 11:24 - 2833 of 12628

Grannyb

29yr old teenager you say.
No.... nearly twice that age. As far as EU concerned.. I'm voting In for economic reasons but have many political EU concerns. But it's always about economics in the end.

I responded to Maxk. I actually listened to those that were the experts on the Portsmouth ER failings. what's gullible about that.?? Do you know more than the experts?
Give us the benefit of that "university of life "experience you have on this subject please.

It had nothing to do with Wollaston or EU.

2517GEORGE - 09 Jun 2016 11:29 - 2834 of 12628

will10 is voting in for economic reasons----

Edited from money morning:-

The EU’s share of global GDP keeps on falling

When Britain joined the Common Market in 1973, the EU (as it is now) produced 38% of the world’s goods and services – 38% of global GDP.

In 1993, when the EU formally began, it produced just under 25%. Today the EU produces just 17%.

That’s a 55% drop.

cynic - 09 Jun 2016 11:32 - 2835 of 12628

much of that decline can assuredly be attributed to the growth of the chinese and indian economies

will10 - 09 Jun 2016 12:11 - 2836 of 12628

George

The world economy has moved on a pace since 1993. The older industrial economies' share of the global economy has declined.

We sell almost as much to the EU as we do to the rest of the world. Makes no economic sense to leave the single market.

grannyboy - 09 Jun 2016 12:15 - 2837 of 12628

This Sarah Woolaston should have taken the 'remainer's' oft said pro-
EU spin when they say " The only way to get reform or to have a say
is to be at the table"

SO why didn't she stay at the Brexit table and try to get the claims being
made by the Leavers changed?

Maybe she was just a plant in the first place, waiting for an opportunity like
this to appear!!..

grannyboy - 09 Jun 2016 12:23 - 2838 of 12628

"We sell almost as much to the EU as we do to the rest of the world."

Well considering the amount of money it cost to be part of the 'CLUB'
the UK should be exporting a lot more into the EU then we are at the moment,
AND seeing as the USA exports more into the EU then the UK does, then
there is something wrong in my reckoning.

But besides that the UK is in surplus to the rest of the world, where as it's
in deficit with the EU..

MaxK - 09 Jun 2016 12:23 - 2839 of 12628

will, this might enlighten you re trade.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/business/2016/06/09/uks-trade-deficit-with-eu-hits-record-high-just-before-brexit-vo/

I'll get back to you re Portsmouth hospital.

will10 - 09 Jun 2016 13:06 - 2840 of 12628

Maxk

Read it.

A balance of trade deficit is not an economic benefit to us.

For years high inward investment has helped our economy balance the effects of trade deficits. Access to the single market is critical to this inflow.

Inflow of investment funds help to rebuild failing industries. Overseas funding has rebuilt our car industry and we now build more cars than ever.
Japanese companies may own much of the UK car industry and take their profits home, but we benefit from the jobs and collect taxes to pay for hospitals, schools etc.

We should be aiming to make as much from exports as we pay for imports to ensure a sustainable economy.
Ensuring that we are still attractive for inward investments is also a big benefit for our economy.

Leaving the single market puts us at a disadvantage.

will10 - 09 Jun 2016 14:08 - 2841 of 12628

Grannyb

You said it. "we should be exporting more into the EU".

100% agree with you.

That's why we need to stay in the single market.

grannyboy - 09 Jun 2016 14:16 - 2842 of 12628

What a load of tosh....

We were ALL warned that if we didn't join the ERM the world would come
to an end.

We were warned that if we didn't join the eurozone the world would come
to an end.

THEY said businesses would move abroad, Financial firms would relocate
to Frankfurt.

They said NO ONE would invest in the UK EVER again.....

THEY said weeds would stop growing between the pavement cracks!.

THEY SAID IT THEN THEY'RE SAYING IT NOW!!!!!!!....

THEY WERE WRONG THEN....THEY'RE WRONG NOW!!!!!!!.......

Here's the Absolute Truth on it:

grannyboy - 09 Jun 2016 14:23 - 2845 of 12628

will10 (2841)

Yes that's correct, but we certainly do not have to be a member and neither
should we have to pay billions, we should also have ambitions to export even
MORE to the world, not just the EU.

In other words...AN INDEPENDENT UK..Free to trade ALL over the world
without having to get permission from Brussels before we do.

grannyboy - 09 Jun 2016 14:28 - 2846 of 12628

Re: Martin Lewis.

Yes we DO know that if we stay the influx of EU immigrants WILL continue.

Haystack - 09 Jun 2016 15:14 - 2847 of 12628

It will continue if we leave.
