Entertainment Rights secures toy, publishing deals for Rupert Bear brand
AFX
LONDON (AFX) - Entertainment Rights PLC, which controls the rights to several children's characters including Basil Brush and Postman Pat, said it has secured toy and publishing deals for its recently acquired Rupert Bear brand.
British toy company, Martin Yaffe International has been awarded UK Master Toy rights to Rupert Bear, and children's character book publisher Egmont UK Ltd has secured the UK and Commonwealth publishing rights to the brand, it said.
The announcement follows ER's recent agreement with UK broadcaster, Five, for the new animated television series of 'Rupert and Friends' to air on Five's pre-school block, Milkshake.
Martin Yaffe will develop and manufacture a range of pre-school toys including plush and plastic toys, while Egmont will produce a range of publishing formats including annuals, novelty and story books for both the new Rupert Bear brand and the 'Classic' Rupert.
