Please report bugs and enhancements (BUGS)

andy.lovell - 04 Nov 2002 11:26

If you're having any problems, or want to suggest some improvements, please post below!

Level2 changes
In the last few weeks we've needed to implement some code changes to make us compliant with the LSE's rules on the access of Level2 data.

The following requirement is now in place:
You can only use 1 program on 1 computer to access Level2 on MoneyAM using a single username.

This means that you are able to view as many Level2 windows using any one particular browser, or program, that you wish, however you will not be able to use both Firefox and Internet Explorer at the same time (the same goes for using Quote Tracker or TradeSeeker at the same time as viewing it using a web browser)

If you find you're being logged off of MoneyAM's Level2 with the message 'you've logged on from another location' then check the above and make sure you're not running any other programs at the same time before reporting this as a bug.

IanT: Grateful your advice as to which Java applet is missing in IE when the Stockwatch screen is blanked out with a nice red corss at the top left hand corner? Thanks is advance. John

John,

This would mean that the Java Plugin is not present or disabled in some way - firstly try a restart on your machine, if that does not clear the problem, you can re download the plugin by clicking below:

Regards

Ian

IanT: Many thanks for your help on this, but I still have a problem. I am told via the Java splash page that I need to install an Active X component, due to Windows XP SP2. Fine, I go through the procedure and I am then told that 'The installation package could not be opened - contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Insraller package.'

Clearly I have some s/w stopping this working properly, any ideas. Could it be the Windows Firewall as it seems to me to be connected with Windows checking that the download is valid?

Any pointers here greatly appreciated. John

john,

I have just spoken to JT about this and he says that you may possibly have to do a manual download for the plugin - fgo to the Sun website and look for the manual instruction on how to download this - please let me know how you get on,

Ian

johngtudor - 09 Dec 2004 11:54 - 2869 of 7315

IanT: Went through the manual download routine...smae result, unable to open application package due to it not being recognised as a valid Windows Installer package.

I have to say this is very frustrating. I have checked through all the proxy address codes, Java is enabled everywhere it should be etc.

john,

Can you check the following:

go to tools, and then click on internet options and then advanced - this should bring up a box, can you scroll down and see if Java is ticked, and if you have Microsoft VM and whether this is ticked or not?

Thanks

Ian

johngtudor - 09 Dec 2004 12:29 - 2871 of 7315

IanT: Thanks your advice. Both boxes were ticked, namely Jave and Microsoft VM.

However I have just retrieved from the Norton protected Recycle Bin, the orginal Java download Icon. It is a slightly earlier version, but it has let me run through the set up and it should repair any problems as I am now able to reinstall. Will advise shortly on sucess or fialure with this approach.

IanT: After rebooting and thinking this was mirvana or something similiar I found to my dismay that I was back with a failed Java Applet on the streaming page. Gloom and doom...off to lunch now for some inspiration.

John

IanT(MoneyAM) - 09 Dec 2004 12:45 - 2873 of 7315

John,

When you get back from lunch follow the instructions I posted before and this time uncheck the Java and leave the Microsoft VM enabled - then do a restart and let me know what happens,

Ian

johngtudor - 09 Dec 2004 12:58 - 2874 of 7315

IanT: Thanks again for advice. Unticked Java box and left Microsoft VM in place. Restarted system and still have large grey panel when I attempt to run the streaming data.

John

IanT: Further thoughts on the above, what should I expect to see enabled in the section IE Section...Tools...Programs...Manage Add Ons?

TullettJ (MoneyAM) - 09 Dec 2004 13:13 - 2876 of 7315

johngtudor,

You have some software on your system that is stopping any java related programs/applets from running.

If you can find out what it is and disable their java blocking facilities then everything should work.

Usual suspects are:
Norton Internet Security
Zone Alarm
Mcaffe

johngtudor - 09 Dec 2004 13:18 - 2877 of 7315

TullettJ: Thanks. Of those you mention Norton looks like the suspect...but of course I will check for others. John

Apologies if this is mentioned already, but.....

When moving my mouse over a chart with the intention of printing it, I get script error pop ups and therefore can't print the chart.

Is it my system or something else ??

Thanks,

Mike

Is there a reason why there are monthly charts for stocks like DTI ADC ADS AND ICN but none for shorter time frames 5 day, 2 day etc

IanT(MoneyAM) - 10 Dec 2004 06:47 - 2880 of 7315

qwento,
