* M0NEY-AM G0LF DAY EVENT: 27 HOLES, INCL. SUSTENANCE & PRIZES (IN ADDITION TO M0NEY-AM SPONSORED PRIZES!) on: -
THURSDAY, 08 JUNE, 2006 *
So several months have passed... Based on the success of last Summer's Event at Longcliffe G.C., a few of you have asked me to take over the reigns from PTH and organise another G0LF M0NEY-AM DAY again based in the MIDLANDS. This is fairEST to the majority coming from all over the UK! From initial feedback (reflecting on 2005 36-Hole hot mid-Summer's day!), the popular view for a 2006 Event has been agreed, as follows: -
* Tea/Coffee on arrival.
* 9 Holes (4BBB 3/4 Stab.) Comp.
* Sandwiches/Lunch.
** 18 Holes (MAIN INDIVIDUAL (FULL HANDICAP) STABLEFORD EVENT) with M-AM and Golfing Prizes for Winners, incl. "Nearest-to-the-Pin" on the 9th. Hole and "The-Longest-Drive" on the 18th. Hole.
* 3-Course Evening Dinner (full waitress service), incl. coffee & mints + Prize Presentation/Mic. Table.
(** ADDITIONAL PRIZES from our generous SPONSORS include: - 3 months worth of Shares Magazine sent to the homes of EACH COMPETITOR every week. The Overall Winner will get The Money-AM Annual Golf Challenge Cup to keep for good plus 1 year's worth of Money-AM Level 2 service worth 357.50 + Vat. The Runner-Up and Third Placed Winners will each get a medal to keep plus 6 months' level 2.)
Venue: - H0RSLEY L0DGE G.C., Belper, Derbyshire (Championship Meadowland Course with American-type Greens). Refreshments will be in the On-Site Kingfisher Restaurant. Entry Fee is: - 60 per Competitor which will cover all of the above ** plus enough to buy some additional golfing prizes.

Markus: My name is Rutherford not Rutherfood although I have been called a lot worse in the past so no problem. Regarding accomodation I would imagine I will need two nights but not made my mind up yet. What are the options regarding hotels (if any) available if you dont mind.

Shame on you Markus. On your home ground and you put your odds below that of this veteran of bygone years!

RutherfoRd,
The Club have quality rooms onsite. EWRobson (and Brock123 - provo) already booked to stay there on Thursday evening with small discount! A deposit secures and I can prearrange this for you, if required (I think it's 70/night)? Otherwise there are plenty of cheaper B&B's < a few miles away. Again once your entry has been confirmed, I can put you in touch with best options...

Thanks MarKus for the info and name change. I will certainly need accomodation at least for the Thursday and possibly the Wednesday but will let you know when I am confirmed. My wife should have the cheque in the post tomorrow all going well. Thanks again for info.

Fliper rising to 7 - this sounds a tad dodgy to me, as well? Mmmh... :o)
Everyone, please keep me updated re: exact handicaps, in the run up to "THE FIFTH MAJOR!". Thanks.

I have been dwelling on your request to bring a friend along... and, if there are still places left with a day or two before my entry expiry date, then I am of the opinion that this is acceptable (presuming he doesn't want to register with M-AM?) on the following basis: -
He can partake in everything on the day itself apart from collecting M-AM's own 'Level 2'/Silver & Bronze Medals/Shares Magazine Prizes. But he IS eligible to win the Morning Team and Afternoon Singles G0LFING Prizes. I, personally, do not have a problem with this assuming there are no objections from anyone else here.....?

Markus , I have been playing on bad greens , cannot hole a putt. I putt better on good greens . Horsley may the course that can bring back my form !

Agree, Fliper. About three weeks ago our greens were running true and I had a round with 24 putts. Now, the hollow tining marks are indeed hollow which is not tehe intention, you can't putt with any confidence and you can easily take 10 mor shots in the round. Just looking forward to those US standard greens; what you see is what you get.
Agree re the badger's friend - what is she called?

At Horsley, they can put the pins in some nasty spots which can result in 3 or 4 putts . 3 to 4 levels on most of the greens . Unless markus speaks to the greenkeeper at 7am on the day of the comp ,it will be 36 or more putts for us all . (WHO SAID MARKUS HAS NEVER GOT UP BEFORE DINNER ! )

Ugh! Now, what is in the best interests of markus? First thought is that he will choose positions where he understands the vagaries and how to get at the pins. Second thought is that he will choose positions that he knows Fliper doesn't like. Third thought is that I was brought up putting at Pitlochry which made the 16th at Augusta look like child's play so I say: 'do your worst!'
