MATALAN - Looking good again! (MTN)

jules99 - 18 Nov 2003 11:15

I missed out on this one from last rise, hopefully I caught it with the horns this time round...

Recently hit 2.67p...been slowly creeping down...

I think everyone on BB's made money except me...this time Im on the right side.

TA.

Yes that's the problem isn't it - there's several decent targets currently
to invest/trade in....I'm contemplating 229p on MTN but there again if it stalls
at 220-odd I may be tempted, that still delivers over 40p per share profit.
Mind you I don't think we will get that lucky today...needs a bit longer..
But all we can do right now is wait on the US Opening...

yes,it could take till the end of july/august for 2.30.i have just come back from my local store , packed out , 18 in a queue in front of us spent 80 on kiddy summer stuff.to full baskets for 80 quid,,a real deal.

Fears of higher interest rates and people having less disposable income
should assist the discount retailers - in theory, or so they say, meanwhile
like yourself I will track down the best value when it comes to shopping!

daves dazzlers - 28 Jun 2004 13:49 - 32 of 140

to right.at the end of the day, what do 5/6 year olds now about brand names.as long as it`s barbie/action man.
i am sure there is some irony in the above sentence,,,,sorry.
ps i asked the lady at the till about staff discount`s,,,she said ,she was new but ,,she thought there was a 10% staff discount,,,now that sort of benefit should be applied to share holders,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,just a thought.

daves dazzlers - 30 Jun 2004 12:01 - 33 of 140

broker DEUTSHE reiterates BUY MATALAN (raising the target price to 240p from 195p raising estimates)

stockbunny - 05 Jul 2004 15:46 - 40 of 140

Thanks insur for that information - 225p and I'd be happy - we need
some renewed bid/buyout speculation chaps!

daves dazzlers - 05 Jul 2004 21:02 - 41 of 140

look`s good for thursday`s agm, lets hope the share price ,reflect`s the current outlook,,,,good we hope.

daves dazzlers - 06 Jul 2004 16:21 - 42 of 140

a small bounce,late afternoon more of a correction than anything.thursday`s level i expect to see 2.20 +

seawallwalker - 06 Jul 2004 18:30 - 43 of 140

MTN will never go bust!

Could be on the bounce by the look of things. Yahoo Bizz have resistance at 260p

Valuation using Matalan plc 's current multiple (P/E):

Fiscal Year Est Low/High Price Range Avg. Est. Price % Change for Average
2005......................210.56-330.88............ 270.72.........30.29%
2006......................204.92-394.80............ 306.44......... 47.48%

Above from MSN Bizz

Looks like there is some slack in the price, not one I follow though!

daves dazzlers - 06 Jul 2004 19:12 - 44 of 140

you missed a good one here seawall, cheers .

joehargan1 - 06 Jul 2004 21:32 - 45 of 140

If there is a recession in the offing, what about Big Food Group (BFP). We will all be popping into iceland for our frozen pizzas and findus crispy pankakes..it might save us impovershed investors from the soup kitchens - also looks quite cheap at 93 pence.

daves dazzlers - 06 Jul 2004 21:43 - 46 of 140

i did sell big food group,to buy mtn at 1.77,bought at 98.but my booker cash/carry card has just ran out,end of june.
but i have bought again last few weeks 1.06,so another card is on its way.

seawallwalker - 06 Jul 2004 22:36 - 47 of 140

Dave

I hood BFP. Do all share holders qualify for this card?

daves dazzlers - 06 Jul 2004 22:51 - 48 of 140

yes, no amount of shares needed you could just have 50 if you wanted,a great perk i`ve spent loads in booker.
