THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

And Cameroon is the leader the country didn't want.

Fred1new - 08 Sep 2013 21:13 - 29015 of 81564

MK..

Doesn't want.

Nobody, other than Hay's wants him.

Even Putin thought he was a lousy waiter.

MaxK - 08 Sep 2013 21:16 - 29016 of 81564

lol

dreamcatcher - 08 Sep 2013 21:20 - 29017 of 81564

What stops you voting then Fred ? You to me never have a good word to say about DC or the Cons. Very rarely if ever comment on the matching sometimes far worse comments/actions of the Labour party. Certainly very rarely criticise the Labour party. You come across as an ardent Labour supporter to me. So what puts you off about Labour that stops you putting a cross on the ballot paper. Are you frightened of their policies? Something does not add up? Because if you was so against the Cons to the point you are, you would be first in the voting queue. Never been able to weigh you up.

Ps I will vote Conservative

dreamcatcher - 08 Sep 2013 21:24 - 29018 of 81564

Sounds like you admire Putin. lol

Stan - 08 Sep 2013 21:30 - 29019 of 81564

Vote Gideon.

Fred1new - 08 Sep 2013 21:41 - 29020 of 81564

DC,

At my age I can afford to be brave, but voting for any party doesn't attract me.

Always, tended to walk my own paths and tender not been affiliated to, or have need of groups.

If you knew me well you would see over the past I have been critical of Labour, Lib/Dems and Tories and some of the "batty" smaller groupings, when they are proposing what I think "inappropriate" policies or they are behaving corruptly.

Also, I feel that in many ways the form of "democracy" we have has too many weaknesses and my vote is inconsequential at elections.

In general I tend to align with the moderate left of centre policies, but see the necessity of responsible capitalism, as well as responsible "well managed" state control of certain "infrastructure and services" .

But what does get up my nose is elitism, patronizing behaviour and similar forms of abuse.

Hence, my baiting!

''At my age I can afford to be brave, but voting for any party doesn't attract me''.
If we all thought our vote to be ''inconsequential'' and don't bother voting, well.
What about their actions for the future generations or say younger family members you have ?

Each to their own Fred. What Ed Milliband has done to the country for his own benefits in the last couple of weeks infuriates me and the past labour governments. I will be voting for sure.

cynic - 08 Sep 2013 22:02 - 29023 of 81564

fred is far too superior to bother to vote

dreamcatcher - 08 Sep 2013 22:06 - 29024 of 81564

I suppose if you made voting compulsory like Australia, there would be objections no doubt. Not by me. If you vote a candidate and he wins/loses/ draws you have played your part and have the right to place your views. Imho.

Haystack - 08 Sep 2013 22:11 - 29025 of 81564

"superior' in the sense of displaying superior air and not in the sense of being above average.

Stan - 08 Sep 2013 22:11 - 29026 of 81564

Vote Gideon.

dreamcatcher - 08 Sep 2013 22:13 - 29027 of 81564

Shut up. lol

dreamcatcher - 08 Sep 2013 22:14 - 29028 of 81564

Don't you come knocking on my door!!!!!!!!!!!! :-))

Fred1new - 08 Sep 2013 22:46 - 29029 of 81564

Manuel,

No, but I do try not to overvalue myself, or the "power" of my vote.

====

Hays,

Also, I tend to recognise feet of clay and icon worship in others, especially when associated with self inflation in thenselves.

goldfinger - 08 Sep 2013 22:52 - 29030 of 81564

"But what does get up my nose is elitism, patronizing behaviour and similar forms of abuse."......ends.

Spot on Fred.

The present cabinet does not reflect the country,it reflects the the top 10% of this country only.

I certainly wont vote Tory again until we get a better balance in the cabinet and that includes more women. A cabinet that knows whats going on not just in London but outside it.

DC what went on over the Syrian vote was entirely smug, patronizing, ignorant, Camorons fault. He thought he could bulldozer it through but found his OWN party were an obstacle to his own future career prospects as a world statesman. Its curtains for him now.

Some activists see Blairite diehards trying to ‘break the link’ – but this is at best paranoid.
