How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

bakko - 25 May 2005 16:38 - 2904 of 10502

Davenport level!

Harlosh - 25 May 2005 16:38 - 2905 of 10502

You should be OK now bak. (Hopefully)

Harlosh - 25 May 2005 16:39 - 2906 of 10502

Never doubted her really. She's just following my system.

Fundamentalist - 25 May 2005 16:39 - 2907 of 10502

hang in there bakko

john - you now green?

Harlosh - 25 May 2005 16:42 - 2908 of 10502

I am Steve. Not as much as you though. A master stroke if I may say so.

Fundamentalist - 25 May 2005 16:45 - 2909 of 10502

john id like to take the credit but only looked at the prices because of your posts so thank you - just felt the price was too short. will quite happily lay the lower rated of two players at very short odds any time. keep posting when the better player loses the first set :-)

back to the geegees for me

bakko - 25 May 2005 17:01 - 2910 of 10502

Can't believe I got out of that still alive!

Fundamentalist - 25 May 2005 17:02 - 2911 of 10502

Bakoo

now that you have got paid - what price did you back her at?

Harlosh - 25 May 2005 17:09 - 2912 of 10502

Think you got to change your strategy bak. Just think you could have got 5's on Davenport or laid Peng at 1.11 as Steve did. Risk reward much more in your favour.

bakko - 25 May 2005 17:09 - 2913 of 10502

1.25

Fundamentalist - 25 May 2005 17:11 - 2914 of 10502

Thanks for that bakko - gee you must have been really sweating. i tend to agree with john - imo your strategy at best is going to cause you too much stress i.e. today, or at worst a run of a few big losers will wipe you out

bakko - 25 May 2005 17:15 - 2915 of 10502

Thanks for advice John. Will have to retink srategy.

Did very well on day 1 as won 5/5 and 2/2 yesterday. 3/3 today but could've have been completely blown away during last game.

Tried a different tactic on Henman game earlier and worked quite well. I'll try it again over next few days and will report on success/failure

Harlosh - 25 May 2005 17:18 - 2916 of 10502

Glad it worked out for you anyway. I was sweating all the way for you.

Scripophilist - 25 May 2005 17:43 - 2917 of 10502

Horses seem to have been good this afternoon a clean sweep. Gonna take a break now before the evening races which I will pick up later.

Fundamentalist - 25 May 2005 19:03 - 2918 of 10502

Scrip

hope you have started on the evening races as there have been a few great opportunites in the last few races

anyone trading the footie tonite?

Scripophilist - 25 May 2005 19:29 - 2919 of 10502

Just coming back ahead of the match. Two machines running. One for the horses and one for the football.

Fundamentalist - 25 May 2005 19:34 - 2920 of 10502

the frustrations of not letting profits run: master wells 7.35 ripon - laid at 2.94, backed back at 3.15 then watched it drift to 4.8 - ouch!!!!!

definitely still my biggest fault on the horses not letting my profits run

Great start Liverpool in the Champions league final. Or should that be the we finished thirty points behind the champions final.
