Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).
Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.
cheers GF.

''At my age I can afford to be brave, but voting for any party doesn't attract me''.
If we all thought our vote to be ''inconsequential'' and don't bother voting, well.
What about their actions for the future generations or say younger family members you have ?
Each to their own Fred. What Ed Milliband has done to the country for his own benefits in the last couple of weeks infuriates me and the past labour governments. I will be voting for sure.

I suppose if you made voting compulsory like Australia, there would be objections no doubt. Not by me. If you vote a candidate and he wins/loses/ draws you have played your part and have the right to place your views. Imho.

"superior' in the sense of displaying superior air and not in the sense of being above average.

Manuel,
No, but I do try not to overvalue myself, or the "power" of my vote.

Hays,
Also, I tend to recognise feet of clay and icon worship in others, especially when associated with self inflation in thenselves.

"But what does get up my nose is elitism, patronizing behaviour and similar forms of abuse."......ends.
Spot on Fred.
The present cabinet does not reflect the country,it reflects the the top 10% of this country only.
I certainly wont vote Tory again until we get a better balance in the cabinet and that includes more women. A cabinet that knows whats going on not just in London but outside it.
DC what went on over the Syrian vote was entirely smug, patronizing, ignorant, Camorons fault. He thought he could bulldozer it through but found his OWN party were an obstacle to his own future career prospects as a world statesman. Its curtains for him now.

Rob Marchant: Revamping Labour's union ties could help Ed Miliband
Some activists see Blairite diehards trying to ‘break the link’ – but this is at best paranoid.

Extract from the Independant.........
A week ago we had polling carried out by YouGov, which rather shows that union members agree with Miliband.
An astonishing 60 per cent of members of affiliated unions think that the outline reform proposals are sensible, against only 20 per cent who think the unions should continue to wield more influence.
And a further 10 per cent dislike the proposals because they do not think they go far enough – that Labour should scrap links altogether.
A further 61 per cent also said that union voting power at conference should either be reduced or abolished completely, and 63 per cent of union members would abolish union-reserved places on the NEC.
These figures are compelling. Apart from anything else, they certainly call into question the extent to which some union leaders are actually in touch with the opinions of their own members.
UNION LEADERS...........TAKE NOTE.

Boost for Ed Miliband as union members back his 'opt-in' reforms of Labour-union relations
New poll shows ordinary workers want Labour leader to go further
A YouGov survey for the Labour Uncut blog also suggests that Mr Miliband can reap an electoral benefit if he sticks to his guns and forces through his changes. Some 16 per cent of the public say his reforms make them more likely to vote Labour at the next election, with only 4 per cent saying they are less likely to support the party.
