Nonsense story links McCarthy with United
Comments (29) jump
James McCarthy is the subject of the latest tabloid transfer nonsense, with the Irishman said to be on new Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal's shortlist this summer.
Sky Sports wisely pulled a similar story (starting with their customary "Sky Sports understands" line) from their website earlier today but The Express are perpetuating it, claiming that United "are prepared to offer Tom Cleverley in part-exchange" for McCarthy.
Ex-Old Trafford hardman, Roy Keane, put it best when he admitted that a move to United would be a step down for not interest McCarthy at this point:
“He's only been at Everton two minutes. [He] is at a good club in Everton, he has had a decent couple of seasons and if he keeps progressing, who knows?
“But I'm sure he's pretty happy where he is.”

517 Posted 23/05/2014 at 22:18:36 If Side-show Bob is worth 50... Cash in. Lol. Dream on Utd. Keano has it spot on. He and Barkley should be kept at Everton at any cost.

518 Posted 23/05/2014 at 22:21:01 Once again another good young player linked to a move. Yawn... so boring.

522 Posted 23/05/2014 at 22:35:47 I just wish that everyone on all the Everton related websites would get it into their heads that we will always be targeted for our diamond gems of home spun or aquired good players as long as that penniless desperado of a chairman remains at the helm of this club.
For instance there is a link on Grand old Team forum to Sky Sports News site were Martinez stated recently that the McCarthy deal would not have come off without the Fellaini money coming in.Which makes Kenwright a liar for stating we didn't need to sell Fellaini to buy McCarthy.
And as for the Abu Dabi shite... (latest is the deal was called off over non-CL qualification according to Alan Brazil) FFS.
Notice the story broke at the start of the season ticket options and ended when they closed.

523 Posted 23/05/2014 at 22:53:19 Strange that Sky backed it and then removed it. Anyone got a link to Roy's quote? He's obviously enjoying the laid back role as Assistant Manager and ITV pundit. He's letting his hair down as much as he ever will.

Harrycat ... lucky escape with Malky imo.
Money they gave him to get us promoted my teenage daughters could have spent on guys that were "hot" and got us promoted then 50 million warchest to keep us there and he blew it on crap.
Yes our owner Tan is a tw*t but end of the day we got more money to spend even now than half the Premier League clubs and so far Ole seems to be spending it wisely.
Getting promoted from the Championship is probably harder than getting relegated from the Premier League and as we've done both in the last two seasons we got to be optimistic for next year BUT ....
.... most of the real die hard , non glory hunter fans agree that it's a better craig in the lower leagues.
PL is overrated with only say 6 teams max ever likely to win it , overpriced tickets , not enough tickets for away games etc , etc.
Bring on another relegation ... Tan will feck off , we can play in blue and get 3000 tickets for away days on a rainy night during the winter at Millwall without the police batting an eyelid cos it won't be televised :-)
The saying " better to travel than arrive" has never been truer than our experience with the PL.

Brentford next season will be a bigger day out than Man U this year because anyone who wants to go will able to go regardless of who they know or how much they are willing to pay for a ticket.
Hope Brentford are more organised this time :-) (search google)

Brazil, Spain, Argentina, Germany are the favourites but Belgium also looks like a good team, all Premiership players and work well together.

Saddled the club with a lot of debt just like Hicks & Gillett did at Liverpool.

Not to mention the £100 million plus that Tan has got us by the balls for.
Never mind , we've bought 3 new strikers already for next season and an Austrian international midfielder.
Just need to ship out a few now and buy at least 1 centre half and a midfield ball winner and I'll be happy.

No your right Chris, some other team like Madrid will have bought them.
Its always the same with the small clubs always end up as selling clubs.
Then have to buy some inferior rubbish to replace.
Plenty of crap at United at the moment Im suprised Martinez hasnt followed up on Cleverly and theirs always Anderson and Evans he can get on the cheap.
Ohh if forgot Nani aswel.
Theyd suit you or any other mid table small team.

Paul Scholes wants England to play like Liverpool in the World Cup.
I think he may well be right.
