i have heard that the damning CPR was actually issued part way through the (annual) process .... does anyone know if there is any truth in that?

it is also puzzling that the original CPR was also done by an indenpent body, so how could that be so completely variance with the latest?

that said, if there is no bid tomorrow, even if only an opening shot, then sp will be going in one direction only

cynic - 19 Jan 2015 08:11 - 2986 of 3666

so then, is no news no news or bad news?

required field - 19 Jan 2015 08:19 - 2987 of 3666

I reckon the market will possibly keep the sp up even with no bid from the first lot because another bid from other suitors is very, very likely.....

HARRYCAT - 19 Jan 2015 08:24 - 2988 of 3666

Just no news yet. Nigeria are an hour ahead of us, so shouldn't be long now! Rumour was that they would ask for a seven day extension to the deadline.

niceonecyril - 19 Jan 2015 08:50 - 2989 of 3666

It seems that any extension must be applied for by AFR?

i am very puzzled (and thick), but of you look at today's news for AFR there are some very odd tradings from morgan stanley
anyone understand them, or are they pretty irrelevant?

niceonecyril - 19 Jan 2015 12:34 - 2992 of 3666

I''l pass,just as confused.

aldwickk - 19 Jan 2015 12:42 - 2993 of 3666

aldwickk - 19 Jan 2015 12:48 - 2994 of 3666

my stop loss at 27p as just been triggered

cynic - 19 Jan 2015 12:59 - 2995 of 3666

sp has stayed remarkably stable, which is strange in itself

HARRYCAT - 19 Jan 2015 13:08 - 2996 of 3666

As I mentioned in post #2893, these trades have been going on for some while Cynic. They are TRP's, but I don't quite understand how they fit into the day's trading figures.

[TRP's: A swap agreement in which one party makes payments based on a set rate, either fixed or variable, while the other party makes payments based on the return of an underlying asset, which includes both the income it generates and any capital gains. In total return swaps, the underlying asset, referred to as the reference asset, is usually an equity index, loans, or bonds. This is owned by the party receiving the set rate payment.

Total return swaps allow the party receiving the total return to gain exposure and benefit from a reference asset without actually having to own it. These swaps are popular with hedge funds because they get the benefit of a large exposure with a minimal cash outlay.]
