In Asia today, the Hang Seng ended the morning up 71.18 points at 16,954.22, while the Nikkei was recently 16,053.64, up 93.02 points.

New York's main oil contract, light sweet crude for October delivery was up 56 cents at $72.92 a barrel from its close of $72.36 in US trading overnight.
