A Brief Look At The Week Ahead
The week is likely to be overshadowed by the Chancellor, Gordon Brown, when he stands up before the Exchequer. It will be his 10th, and perhaps last, pre-Budget report. The most eye-catching aspects of the farewell PBR are expected to be a slate of "green" taxes, including an increase in fuel duties, higher taxes for gas-guzzling cars, and higher levies on air travel. Northumbrian Water, United Utilities and Severn Trent will all unveil interim results next week. Of that group, analysts will be keen for any light that Severn Trent, which reports on Thursday, can shed on the status of the ongoing investigation into the company by Ofwat. The company said in October that its profits would be hurt after the regulator announced that it must charge customers less. First Choice Holidays' annual results call on Thursday will draw a lot of interest. MyTravel revealed last week that it was in talks about purchasing the former's short-haul business. Analysts have long expected consolidation in the tour operator sector, and Evolution Securities think that First Choice will be "the pivotal player" in that process. British Airways and easyJet both publish November traffic numbers next week. Analysts will be looking for any residual negative effects that heightened security measures could have had on business. And Michael O'Leary, CEO of rival Ryanair, will see the final nail in the coffin of his 1.48bn offer for Aer Lingus. The period for the offer, which government and employee shareholders have rejected, expires tomorrow. Mr O'Leary has already acknowledged the bid is essentially dead. Amongst others in the headlines this week are :- Greene King and Cybit on Tuesday; Stagecoach on Wednesday and Pursuit Dynamics and Computerland on Thursday. Plenty there to keep us all busy. I look forward to meeting some of you at the MoneyAM Christmas bash on Friday. Sounds like a fun day. Good hunting! PS - Supermum is off cruising the seven seas for a while, but I hope she will return with her Weekly Chart View in the New Year. Greystone (Greystone is Alan English, City Editor at MoneyAM.)

One for the "UPS" tommorrow

GGG - Mid 14.875p
Reason - Expecting news this week of placing price and Institutions on the list oversubscribed is a norm. Nimu with copper oxide and sulphide is the the company success, GOLD is just an extra bonus. Head and shoulders on the chart look promising for the continuation of UPTREND

Another one for the "UPS"...

EME - Mid 60.5p
Reason After encountering gas show at Sugarloaf-1 exploration well 2 week ago, further update this week with Wire logging and flow testing should reveal the amount of Gas available at this site. Strong buying at 60p support last Friday the trend should be UP now

what happened the night of April 1st?"

Little Old Lady: "There I was, sitting there in my swing
on my front porch on a warm spring evening,
when a young man comes creeping upon the porch
and sat down beside me."

Defense Attorney: "Did you know him?"

EME 62 - 65p +3p

a strong surge to 67p and marked down again
on news from company ........

Empyrean Energy PLC
Sugarloaf Hosston Prospect, Texas USA
Sugarloaf-1, Primary target- Wire-line log Interpretation
AIM quoted Empyrean Energy PLC today announces that wire-line logs were
successfully run over the open hole section of the Sugarloaf-1 well between
16,998 feet (5,182 metres) and total depth of 20,896 feet (6,371 metres).

Interpretation of wire-line logs over the primary target indicates that an
aggregate of 90 feet (27.4 metres) of potential reservoir are gas saturated and
may be capable of commercial production after fracture stimulation.

Based on the log interpretation and the gas indications obtained while drilling,
the well participants have elected to run and cement a production liner,
fracture stimulate and test the zones of potential interest. The total cost of
these operations is estimated to be US$2 million.

By 6am Texas time on 3 December 2006, the production liner was in the process of
being run to total depth prior to the well being prepared for temporary
suspension so that the deep drilling rig can be released.

Preparation of the well for fracture stimulation and flow testing will be
carried out with a smaller work-over rig. An update on the timing of the
fracture stimulation and flow testing operations will be provided when the
equipment has been contracted.

After the primary target has been tested the joint venture will make a decision
on production testing the shallower carbonate reservoirs previously identified
as potentially productive.

        JOKE OF THE DAY

A man goes to a psychiatrist.
To start things off, the psychiatrist
suggests they start with a Rorschach Test.

He holds up the first picture and asks the man what he sees.
"A man and a woman making love in a park," the man replies.

The psychiatrist holds up the second picture and asks the man what he sees.
"A man and a woman making love in a boat."

He holds up the third picture.
"A man and a woman making love at the beach."
This goes on for the rest of the set of pictures;
the man says he sees a man and a woman making love
in every one of the pictures.

At the end of the test, the psychiatrist
looks over his notes and says,
"It looks like you have a preoccupation with sex."

And the man replies,
"Well, you're the one with the dirty pictures."
