Spectrum Interactive plc is pleased to announce a new exclusive 3 year agreement to supply WiFi services to 86 Greene King hotels and pubs across the UK..11 Jan 08.

Spectrum are transforming from a payphone operation to a interactive one, although the better located payphones (approx. 5,000) will remain profitable for several years to come.
Recently they have secured long term contracts to 2011 with BAA & 2012/13 with Birmingham International for interactive services and also with Travel Lodge for Wi-fi until 2014. Furthermore they have changed strategy from one-off revenue on Wi-fi to reccurring revenue.
They are rapidly removing loss making payphones,1500 have already been removed with more to follow. Also they are divesting from loss making Germany, and indeed have written off 4.7m in last accounts relating to that.
Capex went up from 0.9m first half to 2m second half, so interactive is growing very fast.....forecast is for 700,000 profit and 2p eps, for 2008, but the brokers have not been very accurate in the past! However this time round Spectrum have anounced at thier AGM that trading is above expectations in the first four months, which gives some hope that the forecast will be met or indeed beaten.
More recently Spectrum have won a contract for Digital Services with BAA and cleverly they have 'installed' their casino offering in the airports, with notable advertising giving free access to those who play, the Spectrum Casino site links suggest they may get 30 pounds for each sign up, just 50,000 customers would be 1.5m revenue, (one would think mostly profit) split between BAA and Spectrum, not forgeting the advertising revenue, which is another bonus. Spectrum will also have 40,000 rooms on Wi-fi soon too for the casino offering, which could be even more lucrative.
Furthermore Spectrum have recently tied up a pub/hotel chain with Wi-fi until 2011, It will be hoped that more of these will follow the exclusive contract with Greene King.
When performing as they should, Spectrum should be making 10% of turnover on the bottom line, hence 20m turnover should make 2m GBP pre-tax for this 4m market cap. (In 2005 Spectrum acheived 2.4m profit on 16m turnover then having circa 1m interest to pay, 600k more than now)
Update from their AGM statement 26th November
"I am pleased to report that trading in the first four months of the 2007-8 financial year has been above market expectations."
"The outlook for the remainder of the financial year is encouraging. As the dependency on payphone income further reduces we expect income from interactive services to become predominant and this consistently growing business is demonstrating healthy gross margins and profitability."

Spectrum Interactive launch "Desk Media Screens" into BAA Airports.
Spectrum Interactive plc is pleased to announce that it has signed contracts with BAA's UK Airports for a new product - "Desk Media Screens".
The "Desk Media Screens", are a set of PC style screens running various forms of digital media including flash animation, video and web based content, positioned close to existing Spectrum Internet Desks. The screens operate independently from the Desks, and are monitored and updated remotely in real-time. The Desk Media Screens provide new opportunities for media sales revenue, airport messaging, and additional promotion of the Internet Desks themselves.
For advertisers, in addition to the extremely high foot fall at these sites, there are opportunities to gain an immediate response through the association and link with the Internet Desks. Advertisers will be able to promote their online presence on the Desk Media Screens, drawing attention to their online marketing campaign, and the user can immediately access the campaign online, through free access on the Internet Desks.
The agreement with BAA allows Spectrum to add Desk Media Screens, to their existing Internet Desks at all seven UK airports. 17 sets have already been installed across Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted, with other BAA airports being added as media sales are secured.
Spectrum operates in 25 airports across the UK, and is also negotiating with other existing airport partners for Desk Media Screen rights.
Helen Regan, BAA Telecoms and Media Account Manager said "It's not only important to BAA as a source of revenue for both Spectrum & BAA, but it is also an added passenger service that we can utilise."
Daniel Gray, Spectrum's Head of Marketing and Product Innovation stated, "This is a perfect additional product to our existing Internet Desks. We believe that our airport Desk Media Screens will generate new revenues for Spectrum and its partners, and help further develop Spectrum's growing media sales activity. Our site partners are reacting very positively to the flexibility that we can offer to help promote specific localised messages (like airport wayfinding), and potential Desk Media Screen advertisers have expressed strong interest in maximising the link between Desk Media Screens and the Internet Desks. "
Spectrum CEO, Mark Lewarne added "This is a significant new product, and has received very positive reaction from our partners. We are looking to grow the online media sales element of our business and this new contract represents a great step forward in developing that strategy."
Spectrum Interactive launched is media sales website earlier this summer with the promotion called "YOULooked!" and found at www.YOULooked.co.uk

At a stroke Spectrum now have thir own casino (white label) at BAA Airports, clever stuff.
If they get 30 pounds per new client, 100,000 customers relates to 3m which I suspect most will go to bottom line, although a 50% share to BAA will reduce it to a paltry 1.5m!

Spectrum had been servicing selected Greene King sites for some time, and after extensive market research Greene King extended it to the whole estate. We believe that Spectrum's scalability and flexibility were crucial factors, as their mix of hotels and pubs required a combination of chargeable and free-to-use WiFi installations. Were excited by this contract, and its new type of voucher application."

Spectrum launches new WiFi & Blackberry printing service for hotels
Spectrum launches new WiFi & Blackberry printing service for hotels
This week Spectrum Interactive formally announces PrintSpectrum, a WiFi & Blackberry printing service, at the Hotelypia show, Excel Centre.
This new to the UK service, enables a hotel manager to provide fully managed and controlled, secure printing services to WiFi, Blackberry and other email device users. The service utilises a hotel's existing (internet connected) PC & printer, and Spectrum supplied software.
Each hotel is given its own PrintSpectrum web URL and email address, and guests simply forward (or upload to the website) their email or documents that need printing. The resulting prints are securely stored until the guest provides a PIN, and only then can the staff access & print the request. The hotel can offer PrintSpectrum services, as a free service or charge locally for each print.
Alternatively the PrintSpectrum website can charge the guest online, enabling the hotel to provide a paid for service, without needing to handle cash payments.
Daniel Gray, Head of Marketing & Product for Spectrum said "This is an exciting new development for WiFi site owners, including hotels, travel locations, cafes & corporate offices. The service is not dependent on the local operator of the WiFi service, and in fact (for Blackberry printing) the site doesn't even need to have WiFi working!"
"PrintSpectrum is sold to the site on an annual licence, and is independent of any other Spectrum service. The service has been exceptionally well received, and we are working on a number of further developments to offer integrated printing into other Spectrum products and services."
"All hotels are now aware of the importance of providing WiFi for laptop users. However hotel staff & their IT managers have for a while been struggling with handling requests for guest printing. Now we have a secure, virus proof, and fully managed solution, thats quick to install, and easy to use!"

PRESS RELEASE
Travelodge WiFi now sold online, with the room!
No image No image
The Travelodge website now offers guests the opportunity to purchase WiFi time, at the same time as booking their hotel room.
Spectrum Interactive plc (the exclusive provider of WiFi services at UK Travelodge sites) and Travelodge have worked closely on integration work to enable Spectrum's WiFiSpectrum vouchers to be sold online through the Travelodge website. The development prompts the guest to add additional purchases including WiFi vouchers during the online booking process. Once bought, it makes the connection process easier on the day of the stay, and guests still have the option to pay by credit card on the day if they wish.
Daniel Gray, Spectrum's Head of Marketing & Product said, "We're excited by this development, and have successfully integrated with one of the UK's busiest websites. We believe this adds choice for the hotel guest, and we have already seen a notable percentage of total purchases being sold via the Travelodge website. This innovation will help further improve the awareness of WiFiSpectrum availability across the Travelodge estate, and we expect it to increase overall Travelodge WiFi revenues."

Yep, 550k dumped at 4.5p with Wins and they are selling it on for 5.15p for
a nice turn, now if nothing is wrong with the company which is always the
risk side of it assuming the seller just needed the money then there's a 10-20%
possible gain on the table if wins can clear the remaining 400k because there
was 150k of buys after that trade including my small buy, kept it small because
i wanted to see the size of that sale first, we shall see.

Nice acquisition today.
This actually looks very cheap now.
They are quite profitable albeit they have been dropping in touch times but
they do generate cash and debt has been dropping well.
Only reason no movement and will remain no movement until wins sell that
remaining 400k of the large sale on Friday.
Easily get back above 7p when it does, that 5.25p looks great value to me
and the next offer remains 7p on L2.
