Paperwork

hangon - 04 Dec 2008 18:06

Am I alone in wanting Annual Accounts posted to me?

I like to read them, see the directors' faces grinning out of the paper and I can write notes against anything I consider important.
Later, if I go to the AGM I can resad it on the train and be reasonable coherent by the time I get to the meeting.

Yet it seems that whilst Director salaries move ever upwards the company finds it convenient to reduce costs by posting only a PDF document on the website. This means I have to use my paper and printer and consume much ink in the process.

The resulting document is a poor-relative to a properly printed Report.

If a company cannot be bothered to supply me with a printed copy, then why should I expect anyone else to be interested in what they have to say? I shall sell such stocks - as I have been doing and as it happens the downturn has been less harsh.
-UT- it does mean that I shan't be buying them when things get better.....

FWIW I don't believe the argument that this improves "shareholder" value - well I won't be buying these shares and I suspect others won't either.

Note- I'm not saying there should be printed-copies ONLY - I'm saying the default should be Printed, whereas the current situation is that I have to write to the Registrar for Each stock - what a waste of MY money. Grr!

What do others think, do you make notes on the printed pages?

Yep, broadly agree with both of you.
