FTSE tipped to advance this morning

The FTSE 100 index looks set to start the day on a positive note, according to financial websites, adding to yesterday's steady gains, but with volumes expected to remain on the low side in the run-up to the festive break, while attention switches to today's quarterly growth figures.
Further afield, Wall St. closed higher overnight and Asian markets were making steady progress in early deals today.
US & ASIA
In the US last night, the Dow closed 165 points higher at 17,417, the Nasdaq added 32 points to 5,001 and the S&P 500 rose 18 points to 2,039.
In Asia today, the Nikkei is closed and remains unchanged at 18,887, while the Hang Seng had gained 211 points at 22,042.
WTI crude oil traded at $36.46 a barrel and Brent at $36.47.
Gold settled at $1,074.63 an ounce.
