News Headlines:   

The Dow, S&P and Nasdaq all closed in the red in the red as investors remain unconvinced that the latest good results mean there is an economic recovery taking place.

The FTSE is expected to open slightly higher but with negative sentiment on the US futures and and in the Far East I will be looking for a 20 point fall at some point.

Infineon fell after the group posted wider-than-expected second quarter losses following a big fall in memory prices. They reported a net loss of 328 million euros for the three months to the end of March, against a loss of 40 million euros. Watch ARM to fallback on the news

Wolseley: Pinault Printemps Redoute is in exclusive talks over the sale of its Pinault Bois Materiax building materials supplier, (Le Figaro) Glaxo: said it settled a patent suit with Pentech Pharmaceuticals, opening up the sale of a generic form of the anti-depressant drug Paxil in Puerto Rico, but not yet in the rest of the USNational Express - Arriva - FirstGroup. National Express CEO Phil White said there should be consolidation in the industry and his firm was keen to team up with a rival. (FT)Westbury: raised 150 million pounds in a U.S. private placement, in order to restructure its debts.CHUBB <Profit Warning & Sales> BUT United Technologies Corp is in talks to buy the UK security firm.Reuters: Shares could move after the release of first quarter results from its U.S. electronic trading subsidiary Instinet Group.

Kingfisher said it would offer 67 euros ($73) per share for the remaining interests in French home improvement chain Castorama

Croc, do you see the ftse short term 4000 ? i still think that the long term downtrend is in tact but the market seems to want to run.I think a small long on the ftse may be make a few pence, short term.

Short anything at your peril at the moment.This rally is gonna take no prisoners short term.After a 156 point rise on the dow tonight we should fly higher tomorrow so being short is not the thing to be.
