News Headlines:   

US Investors reacted strongly to improved quarter earnings despite the fact most were achieved through cost-cutting steps and not sales growth.

Renault cold gain after Nissan (44% owned by Renault) posted a record 51 percent rise in operating profit and forecast further growth powered by new product launches in the U.S

SARS continues to spread through China with schools now being closed.

Punch Taverns reported a 17 percent rise in first-half profits. Profits rose to 55.6 million pounds compared to analysts forecasts of 50.0-52.8 million pounds. They said resilient trading had been maintained since the end of its half-year.

Corus said it had appointed Philippe Varin as its new CEO who was an executive at Pechiney Group

Barclays & Lloyds: Look for a 10 point rise in these bank stocks from the opening.

Ex dividend day: Watch CBRY and RR. for volatilty.
