NMS - Last 17 trades are Buy's

modernthinker - 18 Aug 2003 10:25

What are the Market Makers up to ??? The last 17 trades put through are all BUYS !

Current total share bought this morning are : 986,460 against 60,000 that have been sold.

I personally think the MM are looking to buy the stock back and sell it later at new highs, just my thoughts.

The market makers are not up to anything - they are not doing any of the buying or selling.

If you look at the trades they are just ordinary investors.

The value of the shares the amounts are really very small for each deal. Two big trades have just gone through one sell, and one that looks like a sell. The smaller sell is 350,000 - This is only worth 32,500! The buys of 10,000 are only worth less than 1,000!

What does this tel us ? A big 350,000 sell order has been put through which hasn't dented the bid/offer spread 9.5 - 9.75. I still think Market Makers are buying back. The price hasn't reflected the sell order.

Whats the 500,000 order all about. Is this a limit order been activated ??? why is there a ? by the buy/sell ?

Technical Analysis:

There is alot of resistance at the 10p level, when this level is broken and this becomes the new support, this will be a fundermental new trend for NMS. For the last year it has traded a tight range 6p - 9.5p. You will get sell orders at this resistance level 9.5 because its a key resitance level/pyschological barrier, but as more buyers come in and MM hold on stock with some good news on profits and targets we should hopefully see a breakout.

Just my humble opinion.

Like I said the "big" order is really small! The market makers are selling!!! They are selling to Ordinary investers who are buying!!!!!!

LOOK AT THE TYPE OF TRADES - they have O, these are ordinary trades placed with the Market Makers by ordinary investers.

@ Little Women

fair point but....

Market Makers have been know to put through sell orders to attract sellers and vice versa - trade sizes doesn't indicate who is selling/buying, never think trade size means its an investor. I agree most of these buy trades are small investors but MM do play funny tricks, trust me! O - means nothing, MM can put through Ordinary trades!

Please remember alot of buyers are holding back due to thinking it will drop off to about 8.5 because of this delicate area. NMS has been trying to break this level 3 times. This will either breakout in the next few weeks or it will fall back and will be see a sideways trend for another 6 months.

Anyway we need more volume trading and volatility to break the 10p - i think its going to be wait for some good news. NMS as a company i feel is doing well with a strong long term portfolio!

modernthinker - you need to get L2. Market makers don't do ordinary trades, they are not allowed to - they would lose their licence!

They can change the price they buy & sell quite easily and it has nothing to do with the amount of shares that are being bought and sold. They change prices to encourage us to either buy more, and/or sell more shares, they make money on the spread and need to encourage investers to deal. If we aren't dealing they are not making money!
