Let's see when results are out on Monday 22. I'm a holder of these but am losing patience. I bought because of the DAB technology but want to see something on the ground rather than blue sky thinking about possible worth. A company can't keep promising jam tomorrow!

Buy UBC Media at 23p
Says Luke Heron of WatsHot.com
I am convinced of the longer term value offered by UBC Media. The group, which provides entertainment, traffic and travel news services for radio and television, has a "significant position" in the US digital radio market. Recently, the company issued a positive trading statement. The company has confirmed it expectation of delivering a strong set of preliminary results for the year to 31st March, with revenues up 25% on last year.
Indeed, the performance sounds very pleasing indeed and I believe that the prospects for the forthcoming year are very positive. In particular, the commercial radio network advertising and programming business continues significantly to outperform the sector as advertisers seek national solutions in a fragmenting digital marketplace. I expect to see like for like growth in advertising revenues of around 21% compared to an average decline across the commercial radio industry of around 5%.
EMAP Radio has agreed that the 14 radio stations in Scotland and Northern Ireland, which it acquired last year, will begin carrying UBC's Network Drive advertiser funded service of traffic and travel news with immediate effect. Simultaneously, UBC has concluded a new contract with GCap Media to provide travel information to its analogue and digital radio stations.
National radio advertising has been a major area of growth for the company for the past two years and now represents over 50% of its revenues. The company continues to increase its market share, and demand from advertisers remains as strong as it has been for the last twelve months. Meanwhile, UBC is also benefiting from the growth in 'Podcasting' and is now producing Podcast audio programmes for customers such as The Times and The Sun and I expect to see this as an area of future growth.
At the half way stage, pre-tax profits of 132,000 pounds were boosted by a one off gain of 629,000 pounds from the sale of 51% of Oneword Radio to Channel 4. Meanwhile, the growing media business has almost completed a 400,000 pound investment as part of a downloadable music service. Still, we can expect the core business to generate a good profit. The shares have recovered a little of the recent declines and at 23p, the company is capitalised at 41.5 million pounds.
RAJAR figures out on Thursday last week continue to show Oneword's growing presence, whilst the Classical Gold channel is also moving along nicely. As this business grows, earnings will become a regular feature, furthermore UBC is so far ahead of the pack that surely at some point it has to become a take-out target. However, despite the company's strong earnings prospects, this is not a play on earnings, it is an asset play and a play on the fact that UBC is so much further ahead than the pack. Digital is the future. With a valuation of 41.5 million pounds, UBC has not turned out to be the successful short term punt that we expected, neither is it suddenly going to leap into action anytime soon. Still, at 23p, the stance remains "long term buy".
