Viva MacVegas! Glasgow spins the wheel

London Clubs International, the quoted casino firm, is to develop an 8 million gambling den in Glasgow.
The move comes weeks after US leisure firm MGM Mirage announced plans to develop a massive casino on former dockland on the north bank of the Clyde. Rangers owner David Murray is known to be keen on building a casino in the city too.
But LCI, in partnership with Heron International, run by Gerald Ronson, appears to have stolen a march on its rivals by winning planning permission and Gaming Board consent to build a casino on the south bank. When it opens in two years' time it will be the biggest casino in Scotland.
LCI was the first British casino firm to open a gambling den in Las Vegas, but the company lost its shirt as the cost of developing the Aladdin complex escalated.
