Northgate Information Systems reborn! (NIS)

Socrates - 18 Dec 2003 19:20

I cannot believe I'm the only NIS investor on MoneyAM, well yes I can actually. It's been in the doldrums for so long since it floated as MDIS that it missed out on most of the dot.com recovery.

However, under it's new management, it has steadily progressed with consistently good annuals and interims, gradually confounding the shorting fraternity who just loved knocking it. Over a period, the figures were such that the shorters negative comments were no longer sustainable without looking a bit silly.

The NIS management have been aquisitive in a small way and their takeovers have always been earnings enhancing IMHO. Now they are in a 150 million reverse takeover of Rebus what will effectively double the size of the company at a stroke.

I believe this company to have an exciting future and intend to hold for a fair while yet. There might well be trading opportunities along the way for the short termers who know about these things.

Well worth a bit of your own research, methinks.

Hi Socrates
I'm in these too as of 5th Nov and waited to see what the price would do following the suspension. Will sit on these for a while and it seems likely that NIS will enter the FTSE250

The Black Prince is still in moneyplus.

cheers GF.

Northgate on the march North by 2.5p today. Not sure why but there are two bits of news on Northgate's website. Go here to see them:

Northgate North with a vengeance today, is this a break-out at long last?

Socrates - 14 Jan 2004 18:23 - 7 of 16

A new announcement on the NIS website

http://portal.northgate-is.com/portal/content/read/Central/External/News/NorthgateamongfirsttoachievefullBS7799informationsecurityStandard.html

It may not mean a lot to some but it gives some idea of the importance that NIS places on quality. To software buyers it could make the difference between buying NIS or a competitor's product. To me, it is very positive.

superally - 22 Jan 2004 21:09 - 8 of 16

Can anyone tell me why the price droped this past few days?

jfish - 26 Jan 2004 10:36 - 9 of 16

superally,

I think it is because people have been in for years since tips by Tom Winnifrith & are finally noticing that the shares have risen to a decent level & are getting out.

I mean the sort of people who were crushed by the market & have given up.
They are probably waking up & saying "Wow! I can get some money back, my original 1k is now worth 1k!"

It's a good sign that buyers are stronger than the sellers/profit takers.
We might see some retrenchments but then the sellers run out & the buyers have the market, the share price rises again.

I am looking out for the price to break the recent high of circa 70p - This will show that we are still heading steadily upward :-)

Jfish.

PS Just found this thread since coming over from the "other" site.
Have been searching by EPIC code - seems it doesn't work...

jfish - 27 Jan 2004 10:22 - 10 of 16

Well, we've seen the high breached, now people are taking profits.
As long as the price close above 70p I think we are in for a big ride for the rest of the week.
If it closes down at the end of today then I'm selling in the hope of buying back cheaper.

skinny - 27 Jan 2004 10:28 - 11 of 16

I hold these in a PEP from a price slightly north of the current - but the chart & recent news flow bodes well.

jfish - 13 Feb 2004 16:34 - 12 of 16

Well that's me out at 13.39 - 6500.
Chart suggests to me that we are either starting a downward trend.
Might be a spike up before comig back but I think it's down from here for a bit.

I will be looking to come back in in time for results.
Good luck to those that are staying - I'm just trying not to be put in the same situation as last time - In at 65p watch em down to 16p before going back up!

Socrates - 13 Feb 2004 18:28 - 13 of 16

I can understand the slight retracement on NIS but I'm of the opinion that it is short term. The momentum chart has turned upwards just a tad and the Bollinger bands are narrowing quite sharply. That is usually a precurser to a break up or down. I look at signs like buys/sells, RSI, MACD to try to figure out which way the break will be.

My gut feeling is that there is enough positive feeling about NIS and it's progress to make the break an upward one. That's not to say it will jump huge amounts, just that it will turn. All IMHO which is often wrong, but here's hoping.

jfletendre - 13 Feb 2004 19:09 - 14 of 16

I read on another thread that come March 5th, NIS might be admitted to the FTSE250 - would that impact the share price?

jfletendre - 13 Feb 2004 19:09 - 15 of 16
