Does anybody know the reason why this stock has fallen over recent months despite encouraging results and consistent growth in turnover? With the results due out next month could this be one to have a look at?

What makes you so sure that this one is on the way up? Don't you feel that the share price has fallen possibly because someone knows something about the upcoming results which we don't.

I can see where you're coming from and you could be right. However, the two contracts gained last summer should show up as profitable. I have no real technical evidence to back up my optimism but the share price is trading at the bottom of it's range and transactions over the past couple weeks have mainly been buys.
I think the share price went down as they were unable to pull together anough interest/funds to buy a bigger stake in FW's comp. However, this could change after good results....

Ok. What's it all about !? If this company is so bad and shouldn't be touched with a barge pole, why has there been so much buying going on and share price is edging upwards ? Surely peeps would not go in on this one unless they thought the share price would go up ? or am I missing something ?

Long story this one. Don't know all the ins & outs but... NAV = 13-16p, 2 good deals last year, profitable, results due soon. should be more deals going on this year. Power struggle going on Franks Warren/SN etc. Should be more upside coming through but don't know how much. SP should get to double gigures in next week or two but... I could be wrong! DYOR etc.etc.,:)
Others may have addtional, more accurate info.

shares supended ...reverse takeover ..what does it all mean ???
Sports & Leisure Group PLC
12 February 2004
Sports & Leisure Group plc ('the Company')
The Company has noticed the recent increase in its share price and announces
that an agreement has been reached in principle to acquire the remaining 74% of
Sports Network which it does not already own, for a consideration to be
satisfied only in ordinary shares in the Company.
The transaction would constitute a reverse under the AIM Rules and, accordingly,
the Company has requested a suspension in its ordinary shares with immediate
effect.
A further announcement will be made in due course.
This information is provided by RNS

I've no idea...I would have thought it would be good as it's a reverse takeover.
I have 40k's worth bought at an average of 7.3p over the past 6 months. So i'm hoping that I won't loose anything. I'm no expert but the shares should come back higher.. but I've been wrong before !
Could take some for the share suspension to be lifted.
I'd obviously be interested in other views & predictions... Good luck all :)

here's an article in todays ft..
Sports & Leisure Group is expected to announce today that it is in preliminary discussions to buy the 74 per cent of Frank Warren's boxing promotion business that it does not already own.
Shares in the Aim-traded company soared by 42 per cent yesterday, closing 21/8p higher at 71/8p. Volume has been heavy in the past two days.
Details of the possible transaction have not been completed, but it is believed that Mr Warren would be issued shares for his majority stake in Sports Network.
Because such a deal would amount to a reverse takeover, it would require shareholder approval.
Mr Warren's stable includes Joe Calzaghe, undefeated world super-middleweight champion, and Ricky Hatton, WBU light-welterweight champion.
Its current 26 per cent stake in Sports Network is Sports & Leisure's only business.
In December, it allowed an option to buy another 24 per cent to lapse, saying it had "not found an acceptable basis for exercising the option", which would have cost 6m in cash or shares.
It paid 2.8m in cash for 22 per cent in March 2002 and 1m for an additional 4 per cent in September 2003.
Sports & Leisure raised the cash for the original payment to Mr Warren through a placing which raised 3.5m.
The shares have never reached the placing price of 15p.
The shares have more than doubled since their record closing low of 3p on January 5. Even so, last night's market value of 2.4m is less than two-thirds of what was paid for the 26 per cent stake.
The company floated as Online Sports & Leisure in May 2000 but said a year later that opportunities in its target sector - broadcasting live video footage over the internet - were "overvalued" and "had little chance of being profitable".
It conserved its cash and made no investments, apart from taking a share in a boxing promotion with Mr Warren, until the Sports Network deal in 2002.

i only bought few days ago around the 6p mark ..i bought only around 8k for a short term .. i am excited by the suspension as apposed to being concerned.. generally as u have stated reverse tends to drive the price upwards , which i ecpect in this as well ..the outcome is always uncertain until further details are revealed by the company, as the whole takeover is done by allocation of new shares ..alot vll depend on how much the sports network is valued at the present time.. what deal has been struck by messrs warren and co..i could only imagine it would be favourable..and finally hw many new shares vll come into the market ... as u can see too early to predict anything.
however in view of the recent rises ..which attracted me to have a flutter ... and past experiences i am hopeful the shares vll return better priced..
i know not much meat in this post ..but these are my general feelings at the time..
good luck

we had a few thous of these after a recommendation in shares magazine back in July 2003, we bought a lot more last week at 5p ( it took a telephone broker most of day to get them buying in 500 lots ) Obviously the company has requested suspension as the price changes would jeapordise payment of the contract, it should highlight attention to SOL and hopefully the market will realise the share is undervalued anyway, after this buy-out a further increase in share price is hoped for.
Fingers crossed - another of our make loads or lose the lot shares- hopefullly this turns out to be the former

Got some news released on SOP yesterday. Poor results for 2003 but trading OK this year.
Surprised no postings on this yet.
Suspension should be lifted with next week or two.
Anyone got any predictions on what price it'll come back at ? higher or lower ?

They have an AGM on the 12th August. Expect an update on the remaining 74% stake of Frank Warran Promotions, likely to be a share placing. Not sure if they will resume trading on that date or soon after.

This one's been getting a lot of good press over the weekend & there's more to come. SP has more to go (IMHO). It's looking good. I'm just about to break even but expect to see substantial returns over the coming weeks & months :) (imho)

Time to watch this one again. should do well in 2005. very profitable. SP could double/treble. results due soon could be as early as 1st half of Feb. Have gone back in (small time)... on the other hand, aquisitions are on the cards so there could be equity placings/funding issues... who knows ! ... still- would prefer to be in rather than out... (imho, dyor) :)
