Biofuels Corporation. (BFC)

wilbs - 07 Jul 2004 19:47

The main activity of Biofuels is the large scale production and exploitation of biodiesel and glycerine following the construction and commissioning of the initial plant.

Biodiesel is produced from vegetable oils and, as an environmentally friendly product, can make a significant contribution towards reducing green house gases and meeting Kyoto targets.

wilbs - 22 Aug 2004 20:50 - 5 of 1184

I've not been watching BFC too closely lately as ive been concentrating on another share. Whats going on with the price? I have always thought this one is a winner and I still think it is. Gonna top my holding up. As soon as the plant is built and producing then I think the share will head skywards.

Any views?

Regards,
Wilbs

Another great movement foe BFC today. Ive been looking on another BB on another site and came across these two articles. I think we are onto a winner here.

Below is a comment on today's BioFueled performance from the Evening Standard :

"BioFuels rose 14p to 117p, having traded last week at around 90p, with Toscafield emerging as a 9.22% shareholder. Profits of 6m are forecast for 2005 followed by a conservative 35m the year after.
The company is currently building Europe's biggest biodiesel plant on Teesside. Costing 21m, it will have the capacity to produce 250,000 tonnes of biodiesel a year.
Some brokers say the group is also in line to receive big subsidies from the Government as part of its policy towards encouraging a cleaner environment."

Note :
Europe's biggest biodiesel plant
Government Fuel Commercialisation Incentives to come
and profits - PROFITS - of 35m estimated 2006
The current market value is well below 35m

It's a self fueling share price we have here
and more power to the company too

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Biodiesel - chemical name methyl ester - can be manufactured from a range of plant oils, some grown in this country and some imported. Mixed with methanol in a 10:1 solution with the addition of some potassium hydroxide and sulphuric acid, the process produces three products: biodiesel, glycerine and potassium sulphate. All three are valuable commodities.

Biofuels chief executive John Nicholas said the company had pre-sold 30 per cent of its diesel, and 60 per cent of its glycerine and was confident of finding a market for the potassium sulphate in the fertiliser industry.

Nine tenths of the glycerine produced by the Teesside plant will be of pharmaceutical quality.

Mr Nicholas said that there was a larger existing market for biodiesel than was apparent at first sight.

He said: "Although there is a view that it is an undeveloped market, that is not the case. The supermarkets are very keen. Markets that are already using biodiesel include municipal transport, and the forest rangers use a blended product. The larger market is commercial transport. In Germany two thirds goes to commercial transport."

Thanks to wilbs for recent information. Price fell to 117.5 today. I think our group will be increasing holdings week on week and watch out keenly for changes in commodity price. Is it linked to futures market.

wilbs - 27 Aug 2004 20:32 - 8 of 1184

Im not sure frodo. I thought the price may fall a bit cos it cant simply keep going up as the plant isn't even built yet. If this week is anything to go by, imagine what it will be like when they are making the stuff!! One downside Is the weather we have been having, not good for harvesting the crops.
I will keep you updated if I get more news.

Wilbs

Don't worry about the weather. Financial assumptions are based on palm oil price. There's plenty of global supply of suitable vegetable oils. The UK's small production is unlikely to impact BFC's business.

Wilbs,
This link may be usefull
www.ids.org.my/klse/palmoil/
I think the trend is upward on optimism or rumour of an alternative energy source. ONE concern which some have raised is that palm oil plantations are started at the expense of biodiverse forest. I have seen these vast plantations on the Fly river plain in PNG abandoned due to unprofitability and loathed by the locals. If the oil becomes a cash cow for unscrupulous asian entrepenuers a political row may develop based on cost/ benefit to lifestyle and environment in the region(some think this the case now) adding an unwelcome variable to a commodity and share price as it does for mineral oil . Our opinion is that biofuels is a time of crisis energy source. Buying small lots in the troughs consistently especially once production starts perhaps and reap the benefit when it is required to keep the country on the move.
I would like to know the shelf life of some of the commodities involved as this would help our model.Might ring up next week and find out.

Thanks yiyack and Frodo for you information. I diddn't realise palm oil was one of the products being used. I will have to spend some time this weekend doing a bit more research.

Cheers,

Spottiswoode goes green at Biofuels
By Chris Tighe
Published: November 4 2004 02:00 | Last updated: November 4 2004 02:00

Clare Spottiswoode, former head of Ofgas, the gas industry regulator, has become a non-executive director of Biofuels Corporation, which is aiming to become one of Europe's largest producers of biodiesel.

As the UK's gas regulator between 1993 and 1998, Ms Spottiswoode, 51, spearheaded the introduction of choice and competition in the energy market, orchestrating the break-up of the state-owned gas industry. She was accused by BG Group executives of "the biggest smash and grab raid" in corporate history after imposing big cuts in gas transmission charges.

Now a non-executive of a number of energy sector companies, including British Energy where she is deputy chairman, she joins at a critical time for Biofuels, which floated on Aim earlier this year, raising 14m.

On Tuesday, a ceremony will mark the start of work at Seal Sands on the company's plant. The 250,000 tonne output complex is intended to be Europe's biggest single plant producing biodiesel, a green alternative to regular diesel manufactured from renewable vegetable oils such as oilseed rape, palm and soya and suitable for use as a motor fuel. The plant, created from modules being built in Austria, is expected to be operational by summer 2005.

The Teesside-based business's main UK and European Union outlets will be oil majors, independent fuel distributors, supermarkets and haulage fleets. It will also sell plant by-products glycerine and potassium sulphate. Chris Tighe
