Traders Thread Friday 6th August 2004 (CROC)

Martini - 05 Aug 2004 21:15

Jumpin - 06 Aug 2004 00:09 - 3 of 20

BRIEFING.COM] Rising oil prices and disappointing same-store sales for July from the retailers combined to undercut the stock market today as each, in its own way, contributed to concerns about the pace of earnings growth in coming quarters... Crude futures, in fact, hit a new record high of $44.50/bbl before closing the session at $44.41, up 3.7%... The spike in prices followed news reports that Russia's Justice Ministry said "nyet" with respect to Yukos being able to use previously frozen funds to pay for day-to-day operations... Recall that oil prices fell yesterday afternoon on a report that ministry bailiffs authorized Yukos to use frozen funds... That authorization was revoked, though, on the opinion that it was not based on legal norms... The striking flip-flop sparked a torrent of uncertainty regarding Yukos's fate and simply exacerbated already pressing supply concerns...

Morning all.....good Friday?!

seawallwalker - 06 Aug 2004 08:25 - 8 of 20

Morning all.

Profit taken on PRE will look to go back in once the good news has worn out it's welcome!

Would buy more SEY, but probably got enough just now.

Holding OMH. May be a long termer but it will go places imho.

Squirrelled away TTH some while back, short term long term upward trend. They are buying more Bingo Clubs and looking for more. Straight money in with minimal overheads. I should knbow, my missus does it, :-(

Watching:-

WLW for 41p or less(Preferably 40p)

BB. 2.50p or less(Some hopes!)

RTO 1.40p or less, (Never know)

PLR 1.20p or thereabouts

BARC if the price drops through the floor

WLF may have settled at just under 2.00p, worth a punt on a RED DAY.

Kivver - 06 Aug 2004 08:41 - 9 of 20

High oil prices, higher inflation, higher interest rates, massive trade deficeits, is there any good news?

Big Al - 06 Aug 2004 08:46 - 10 of 20

jj - LOL!

Lobbed PCI, MPH, gone long OMH on that handy pullback.

jj50 - 06 Aug 2004 08:59 - 11 of 20

Hi Big Al. It was intended to read as "good friday" with a capital G and F!
OMH has been good to me.

optomistic - 06 Aug 2004 09:08 - 14 of 20

Morning all.
Could anyone explain to me the significance of VOD selling put options on its shares to Deutsche Bank and what benefit there could be to VOD? Seems to have been taken poorly by the market this AM
Thanks in advance
opto

jj50 - 06 Aug 2004 09:51 - 15 of 20

Teletigger - try opening an account somewhere else! Certainly nice gain on BARC with bid rumour. Pity ASC dropping though as it performed so well - it used to make my day!

Big Al - 06 Aug 2004 09:56 - 16 of 20

jj - the g and F were deliberate. You were the only one to spot it! ;-))

stockbunny - 06 Aug 2004 11:10 - 17 of 20

LLOY up ridiculously - is this on the back of the BARc speculation?
