Lift-off????? (MNT)

david.morris39 - 05 Oct 2004 16:32

Up from 2.7 to 3.8 in less than 24hrs? guess's anyone? no significant buys or sells. I've had this one since 15p. Bought and sold many times, thought it was good value for a long time.

sober - 07 Oct 2004 08:45 - 3 of 30

Michael Walters is a holder and on his site he says he will shortly be commenting on the latest improving prospects. Months ago he was saying they should be at least 6p or 7p so at today's price of approx. 4p this looks as though the long-awaited rise is close.

CaptainNaylor - 10 Oct 2004 17:36 - 4 of 30

I know many people have been bitten by this paticular share, and many people once bitten twice shy. But all dogs have their day and this dog is barking already! (A working gold mine that is cash flow productive)New prospects of millions of barrels of oil in them their hills in scandanvia. And soon to come, the next quarter of mining results out soon for that swedish mine(for the third quarter). With the added bonus of new mining technology, Lapp plats, ovoca, the rest of the massive portfolio and the recent price move, I think this dog should be stroked twice!

P.S Tiger resource management, experts in investing in mining companmies are massive shareholders and have firm belief in MINMET.

seawallwalker - 10 Oct 2004 19:48 - 5 of 30

Twice bitten, now too shy!!

CaptainNaylor - 12 Oct 2004 17:54 - 6 of 30

Remember this company is in recovery process, check the price movement over the last 2 weeks everyone, news coming me thinks!!

rayrac - 08 Mar 2005 09:57 - 7 of 30

I've just dipped my toe in the soup. Having read their report this morning I thought it wise to get in early. No company would put in around $4m cash and equity just for fun!

Minmet could be about to become a nice little punt. That's my reading anyway.

BTW seawallwalker, I got caught the first time, but they had a super optimist at the helm then. Things look to be on track to far better times.

rayrac - 08 Mar 2005 10:27 - 8 of 30

Todays news, note the word 'definitive', so it's a done deal and looks very good to me.

Minmet plc

Minmet plc ('Minmet')
MNT / Index: Dublin ESM / Sector: Mining & Exploration

MINMET SIGNS DEFINITIVE AGREEMENT FOR BARSELE AND NORRA PROJECTS

-- Barsele / Norra Projects in northern Sweden

-- North American Gold investing US$ 3.5 million in Barsele-Norra projects

-- Formal option and JV agreements signed with North American Gold

-- Environmental scoping study to commence in spring 2005 with view to
having a pre-feasibility study completed by the end of 2005

-- Both Minmet and North American Gold confidant of quantifying substantial
ore bodies

-- Stakes in Ovoca Resources plc and Lapp Plats plc sold to focus on developing
the Bjkdal gold mine and advancing Barsele-Norra projects

-- 10% of Minmet's shareholding in GoldQuest sold to assist liquidity and
accommodate institutional demand

-- Minmet converts 50% interest in Tracia Project for 2.5M shares in Ormonde
Mining plc

Minmet plc, the international mining and exploration company, has signed a
formal option and joint venture agreement ('Agreements') with North American
Gold (TSX-V - NAU) ('NAU') to advance the Barsele-Norra projects in the
Vterbotten district of northern Sweden following positive results from an
extensive drilling programme.

The agreements allow NAU to earn a 60% interest in the Barsele-Norra projects by
investing US$3.5 million in cash over three years and issuing Minmet with
400,000 shares in NAU. NAU's commitment to the projects has been highlighted
with NAU exceeding its first year's drilling targets following campaigns
totalling 2,677.5 meters in 17 core holes on Norra, 2,278.75 meters in 10 holes
on the Central Zone and three holes on the Skirasen zone. In addition NAU
undertook bottle roll tests and Leachwell cyanidation test work on samples from
the Barsele project. Flotation test work was carried out on a sample of the
Norra gold-rich massive sulphide ore by Boliden Mineral AB.

The Barsele gold-only mineralization is considered similar to Salave in Spain
(1.92Moz Au), Fort Knox, Alaska (102.9Mt grading 0.89 g/t Au for 2.945Moz Au),
and to Minmet's Bjkdal mine (past production and current resources 30 g/t Au) from quartz tourmaline veins outside of
the massive sulphide but
within the pyrite halo. Higher grade gold intervals in Barsele Central Zone are
likewise associated with quartz tourmaline veins e.g. Hole 03-02 returns a 1m
interval grading 15.6 g/t Au; Hole 04-06 a 4.2m interval grading 11.6 g/t and
Hole 04-10 a 0.9m interval grading 27.2 g/t Au. The importance of these high
grade zones and implications of the possible link between the gold-only Central
Zone and the nearby Norra Zone will be a key feature of the exploration
programme in 2005.

It is the intention of Minmet and NAU to commence an environmental scoping study
in spring 2005 with view to having a pre-feasibility study completed by the end
of 2005.

Minmet has recently sold its stakes in Ovoca Resources plc and Lapp Plats plc to
cash buyers to focus on developing the Bjkdal gold mine and advancing both the
Barsele and Norra projects. The sale of 10% of Minmet's shareholding in
GoldQuest was a corporate decision to help improve the liquidity of the
GoldQuest stock on the Toronto Stock Exchange. Minmet's now holds a 52.3%
interest in GoldQuest.

In exchange for its 50% interest in the Tracia Project, Minmet has acquired 2.5
million ordinary shares in Ormonde Mining plc (ORM.I).

Michael Nolan, Minmet CEO said: 'Drilling in both the Barsele and Norra
concession areas has gone extremely well and both these projects are developing
into large scale development situations that we are confident will exceed the
scale of current gold development projects on the Gold Line'

Issued on behalf of Minmet Plc by St Brides Media & Finance Ltd, 46 Bedford Row,

Thanks Rayrac, reading and will have a think.

All the best

TSK - 08 Mar 2005 10:49 - 10 of 30

There could also be more news in the near future regarding development of the Narke oil shales, which should give the shares yet another boost. Enormous upside from here.

rayrac - 08 Mar 2005 11:49 - 11 of 30

I've read up on the oil shales section, I don't think I will hang my hat on that just yet.

But as you say, upside looks impressive.

TSK - 08 Mar 2005 12:58 - 12 of 30

Fair enough Rayrac, however according to Rolf Nordstrom, the oil shale deposits are "going to be one of their top priorities", and with the oil price on a permanent upward trend (IMHO), I can`t say I blame him :-)

seawallwalker - 14 Mar 2005 14:58 - 13 of 30

Time to leave the ship again Sir?

It's got that sinking feeling.

As I said once bitten.....................

Minmet to suspend mining, review ops at Bjoerkdal site
AFX

LONDON (AFX) - Minmet PLC said it has decided to suspend in-pit mining at at the South East Extension and Pump House Corner areas of its Bjoerkdal mine and to revert to processing stockpiles while assessing options.

Production from both these areas has in the past three months resulted in higher stripping ratios and lower than anticipated gold grades, the company said.

Minmet said the high nugget gold distribution in the Bjoerkdal deposit has made the selective mining of ore difficult and it intends to re-assess the current mining methods with 'considerable focus' being given to a bulk mining or 'super-pit' option for Bjoerkdal.

The company will assess whether the ore-bodies at the Storheden and Nylund areas are contiguous to the current pit and will evaluate the option of including these in the bulk mining option.

Minmet said various long-term contracts have now been terminated or

'favourably re-negotiated' and some staff reductions will be required, adding that the decision will give it greater certainty of running the operation in a near cash break-even or cash positive manner.

It expects that no material exceptional costs from the move.

In addition Minmet said it has begun discussions with the aggregate

industry that would see Bjoekdal supply a significant tonnage of crushed and

sized hard rock which can be produced as a by-product of the Bjoerkdal mine.

The facilities are already in place for this project and any additional investment cost is not expected to be significant, Minmet said.

Does Teeling and Hargan have anything to do with these? No

Are they Directors? No

Must be related then!

What this does mean is they are going to pan for gold in the stream outside the mine as they can't seem to find the motherload inside.

What a Micky Mouse outfit!!

MINMET SIGNS OPTION AGREEMENT WITH DIAMOND MINER TO DEVELOP THE COROMANDEL
DIAMOND PROPERTIES, BRAZIL

Overview:

-- MinMet options its Coromandel Diamond Properties to experienced diamond
miners RST Recursos Minerais Ltda ('RST').

-- MinMet and RST to prepare feasibility and environmental reports for full
mining licence

-- RST to implement large-scale diamond mining operation (subject to permit
approvals)

-- RST has right to purchase the project outright for US$700,000 subject to
initial royalties on gross sales payable to MinMet

MinMet plc, the international mining and exploration company, has signed a
formal option agreement with a private company, specializing and experienced in
alluvial mining, RST Recursos Minerais Ltda ('RST'), to evaluate and mine the
alluvial diamonds in the Coromandel Diamond Properties, Minas Gerais, Brazil.

Under the terms of the Agreement, RST has the exclusive right to mine the
alluvial diamond deposits, subject to receiving full permit approvals, and to
purchase the project outright ('Purchase Option') for US$700,000 less initial
royalties of 2% on gross sales payable to MinMet, which increase to 4% after the
first full year. Royalty payments would cease if RST exercised the Purchase
Option.

The Santo Inio river basin in the Coromandel region is famed for the
production of large, high value, fancy diamonds from alluvial deposits. MinMet
acquired the Coromandel properties in 2000 and controls 5,000 hectares of
contiguous concessions along 40 km of the Santo Inio River. A small-scale bulk
testing operation was operated by MinMet from 2002 to 2003 during which 12
carats with an average value of US$250/carat, were produced. MinMet has
continued exploration in the region following the bulk-testing program.

RST is a group whose principals have over 20 years experience of diamond mining.
In conjunction with MinMet's Brazilian management, RST will prepare all
feasibility and environmental reports required for application for a full mining
licence to be submitted to the Brazilian authorities by the third quarter of
2005. RST will carry the costs of the mine permitting process and subject to
approvals of all reports, they will implement a large-scale (11,000 m3/month)
diamond mining operation on selected target areas using proven proprietary
technology.

In addition, under the terms of the Agreement, MinMet retains all rights to the
Sungem zinc deposit, which was discovered by MinMet geologists on the Santo
Ignacio concessions in 2001. This is now being reassessed in the light of the
current high market price for zinc and following new geological work.

Michael Nolan CEO commenting said: 'The agreement with RST clearly shows the
potential value within the extensive assets of the MinMet Group. We are already
in discussions with potential partners to introduce further value-adding
initiatives on our other Brazilian and Peruvian assets. I would like to extend
our thanks to Dr. Titus Haggan who has worked diligently on the re-structuring
of our Brazilian portfolio and who is responsible for instigating and executing
the arrangements with RST.'
