Aberdeen asset management (ABDN)

Saintserf - 22 Jan 2006 23:39

Hello. Would anyone be interested in a thread on ABDN. It had good results on Friday and has a nice curving up chart I think. It's the kind of safe slow rising share that I like. Not the sort to give you palpatations. I guess it's a kind of turnaround story. Hopefully, it'll do well this week.

Cheers.

ABDN v FTSE

Similar, in a way, to stuffing your cash in the mattress.

:0)

And what pray Gausie is wrong with stuffing it in the mattress if it is sufficient unto the day?

Notes are ok, but coins will make it all a bit lumpy.

go to the charts tab and type in abdn for 1 year and it doesnt look like the chart above. how do you copy and paste charts on to the threads??????

Gausie - 30 Jan 2006 08:33 - 7 of 13

Kivver - sorry, I should have explained. ABDN is the BLUE line in the above chart. FTSE100 is the red line. The FTSE chart is there because its the baseline for trading the markets. If you can't beat the FTSE then you may as well buy into a tracker fund.

thankyou for responding to this board, I admit it isn't the sort of share at first sight that grabs the attention.More an investor's share perhaps. I like it because it's been good for me recently. I bought at 141.6 2 weeks ago last Friday so it's done very nicely. It should be said it's also gone up about 60% since October which isn't bad, it looks to me like a turnaround which the fundamentals seem to back up. It's been tipped by two financial writers in the scotsman for their year portfolio and has recently been rerated on results. Although it may be experiencing a bit of a rest.

Saintserf there is some confusion the above chart shows abdn has gone sideways since august (no 60% rise anywhere). i wonder if aberdeen asset management has more strands to its business??

Kivver, this should help.

saintserf - i see the problem, the share symbol for the chart you have posted is ADN and not ABDN as you have used in the title, means aberdeen must have more strands to the business. This explains the confusion from last night, the abdn chart goes sidewards. Must admit this chart looks much more interesting.

I sold this yesterday wish I hadnt.

Again I will persevere with a board (bored?) for ADN. A good day today, great fundamentals, chart looks good like it's on another step up. Psychological figure of 200 in sight, giving 10% upside. Had a bit of trouble breaking through 170 but hopefully it can hold 180. It seems to like using 10s as support and springboards, eg. 140 - 160, 170 -180 etc. A quality share, this I think in the right sector. To cap it all it's also a turnaround if you look at the 5 year chart it looks even better.
