In Asia today, the Nikkei closed down 246.42 points at 15,663.34, while the Hang Seng ended the morning up 11.55 points at 15,894.00.
New York's main oil contract, light sweet crude for delivery in April, was up 20 cents at $63.56 from its close of $63.36 in the US overnight.
