ORION LEASE SIGNED


Meridian Petroleum (AIM: MRP), the oil & gas company with key assets in the USA
and Australia, today announces that it has signed a lease on the Orion field
(100% Working Interest) located in Oakland County, Michigan.

Based on data from earlier wells, the lease contains a proven and probable shut
in reserve of 3 BCF of gas in place with approximately 2.7 BCF recoverable.
The gas content is pipeline quality after treatment and also contains
condensate.

The Niagaran reef was previously drilled in the late 1980's and early 1990's but
was shut in due to hydrogen sulphide emissions and the absence of appropriate
treatment technologies. Meridian's proposed use of 'sulphur treat' towers, a
technology now widely used for this type of gas treatment has been accepted by
the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ).

Flow rates on the previous wells averaged between 2 to 4 mmcf per day plus
condensate and Meridian anticipates achieving similar flow rates from its
proposed new well location. The bottom hole location of the new well will remain
the same as the previous wells but will be accessed from the surface via a
directional drilling leg.

The proposed new well location is on a partially used asphalt pit adjacent to a
major gas pipeline.

Michigan State. Subject to permitting and equipment availability, we expect to
begin drilling operations early in the second quarter of this year.'

morning all,
just thought i would throw in my tuppence worth. With regards to people saying they have been told that TM has told them there will be an update in 5 10 or however many days, if this were true it would amount to insider dealing as it would be price sensitive. When i have emailed the responce i have got is pretty standard , the same kind that everyone would get.Unless i have a declared interest TM would`nt know if i had 100 or 1,000,000 shares.
IMO, calvin could already be hooked up and producing, this sort of thing happens a lot, when you read an RNS they say something like, the hook up was completed on the 20th of april and is now producing etc. etc.
So all we have to do is sit and wait or take our profits, it`s as simple as that, although some try to complicate things with graphs for this and that. A graph would mean nowt if for example everything was going to plan and then there was a blow out or such like.
It`s not rocket science, it just take a bit of common sense and a bit of luck now and again, trust YOR and judgement, listen to what others have to say, but at the end of the day it`s your money and nobody else`s.

Once we have completed the work we will inform the market. The completion is on track and in line with our expectations. Complicated reservoirs take time and have to be handled in a careful and conservative manner.
