Level2 changes
In the last few weeks we've needed to implement some code changes to make us compliant with the LSE's rules on the access of Level2 data.

The following requirement is now in place:
You can only use 1 program on 1 computer to access Level2 on MoneyAM using a single username.

This means that you are able to view as many Level2 windows using any one particular browser, or program, that you wish, however you will not be able to use both Firefox and Internet Explorer at the same time (the same goes for using Quote Tracker or TradeSeeker at the same time as viewing it using a web browser)

If you find you're being logged off of MoneyAM's Level2 with the message 'you've logged on from another location' then check the above and make sure you're not running any other programs at the same time before reporting this as a bug.

You'll need to reboot on Windows 98 in order to do the equiv of ipconfig /flushdns.

However, it seems that you're using a proxy server in which case it'll have no effect.

Can you ask the owners of the proxy to do the equivalent of a /flushdns and see if that helps?

Ermmm.....what's a proxy server? I loaded On Speed a couple of days ago. Anything to do with that?

OnSpeed own the proxy, and somewhere between them and uk-wire there is a problem.

can you try and access the stuff another way, a different ISP maybe?

Problem seems to have corrected itself. It surfaced yesterday for a short time and then staring working properly. So you think On Speed is the problem. Might have to ditch them. Thanks for your help.

EDIT Just found a facility to set On Speed to bypass certain sites. I've configured to omit Money AM. I'll see what tomorrow brings.

RE post 3007 (navigating large posts) and related things.
Today I encouted a problem with terminal and like a good boy I used the enhanced search facility to check if it was a known problem. It returned this topic amongst others. As Spaceman found this topic is too big for the "all messages" button (so I could use "Find on this page" in IE).

An improvement could be a "topic navigation" facility to find text (first, last, previous, next) and goto post (number) within large topics.
Another idea could be for the seach results to use this to go to the first occurance of the search target within the topic selected from the search results (with the "topic navigation" primed with find next). And finaly the "back to list" button coud take you back to the search results.

Hope this is cohearent and useful.

Wierd bug in charts.

Set up a 1 year chart, say UKX, style Line, grid Full, scale linear, scheme Standard, untick Fill box, but set colour Orange. The resulting chart doesn't contain today's point, or at least it doesn't on my PC. Set any other colour and it does!

Now this wouldn't be important but for some reason it is defaulting to Orange a lot of the time and I'm getting charts without today's point. Took me ages to find out why.

Still got the problem with having to refresh terminals after 8am because when they are opened in the morning the streaming chart shows yesterday's action. It used to be blank, waiting for today's action.

Still got the 'orange' problem, I know it sounds unlikely but it's true :-)

a huge improvement to the site would be the ability to post charts directly from the charting provider ala Tactical Tarder...is this difficult...it would encourage a lot more folk to the index thread.......is it difficult to do?

Unfortuantely, this is not something we could do as these charts would come from competitors of ours, and there would also be a copyright issue. I know that all sorts of things are posted here, but we cannot directly involve ourselves with a tool to help.

The streaming charts have always been like that. In the morning you have had to refresh the screen to clear them.

I will look at a way to resolve that.

You should reconnect all your streaming services each morning anyway to ensure that it's using fresh session data (from your morning login)!

Ian , that was an RNS released today by Augean (AUG) but there was no notice of this on my stockwatch screen and I would have missed it altogether if Big Al hadn't brought it to my attention.

Calling up a chart of UKX with volume brought up volumes (which surprised me) but they are flatlining after mid December. Are the volumes meant to be there?

Not sure if this is coincidence or not, but yesterday I had a problem with the drivers for the graphics card. I think it's sorted today, but now I find that the type size and style for the traders' room threads has changed to a smaller, non-proportional type. (Don't know what it is, looks like old-fashioned typewriter text.)

I've noticed subtle changes elsewhere, with some things not looking exactly as they did before, so I'm not sure if I have a further problem.

Can you please advise if you've changed typestyles for the posts? The index of threads, and your front page, is the same as before.

Edit, 13 Mar: problem resolved with a system restore to earlier last week. Seems my desktop property settings had gone awol :-)
