How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

What a turnaround! Almost as good as Davenport in the tennis earlier today.
LOL

Well done to Liverpool!

cunningham - 25 May 2005 22:29 - 3030 of 10502

Would you believe it.

Scripophilist - 25 May 2005 22:30 - 3031 of 10502

I would have given you 500-1 for Liverpool to win it.

Scripophilist - 25 May 2005 22:31 - 3032 of 10502

I just can't believe it. It's the most amazing win I think I have ever seen.

Scripophilist - 25 May 2005 22:31 - 3033 of 10502

And now they keep the trophy as well I believe.

Man U's comeback 6 years ago was remarkable, but Liverpool from 0 - 3 down must have re-written the history books.

Milan must be sick - two years running they have thrown big leads away

Fundamentalist - 25 May 2005 22:35 - 3036 of 10502

Dudek - take a bow - the double save in the dying minutes of extra time and then to save two penalties

Fundamentalist - 25 May 2005 22:44 - 3037 of 10502

Great to hear the scouse fans singing "Champions League we're having a laugh" -sad thing is as far as next year is concerned they may be

Dil - 25 May 2005 22:46 - 3038 of 10502

I backed Milan all the way down and didn't green up, then at 3-2 bet the draw all the way down and did green up then bet Liverpool in extra time.

All's well that ends well , just read the posts and seems I'm not the only one to have got myself out of sh*t street this evening :-)

Congrats to Liverpool.

Scripophilist - 26 May 2005 09:10 - 3039 of 10502

I re-checked the stats this morning just before Liverpool's first goal went in the chance of Milan winning was 99.63%

Dil - 26 May 2005 10:08 - 3040 of 10502

So backing them at 1.01 was good value , lol.

Scripophilist - 26 May 2005 10:16 - 3041 of 10502

If you did it 1000 times with the same amount of money!

bakko - 26 May 2005 10:49 - 3042 of 10502

Morning All,

Hope everybody has recovered from last night.

Just noticed this morning that Henin's odds started at 1.03/1.04 and despite being 5-0 up in 1st set it drifted out to 1.12/1.13. Reason being that trainer had to be called on. Possibility of going lame???

Scripophilist - 26 May 2005 11:05 - 3043 of 10502

I laid at 1.04 and have covered will 're-invest' the remainder.

On the tennis front look out for Acasuso v Roddick game later.

Acasuso from Argentina is quite an useful player on clay having reached the semis in a clay tournament in Austria only 2 weeks ago. He also beat Safin in April as well.Odds are currently 2.66/2.68.

Roddick's odds are way off at 1.6/1.61 and he's supposed to be seeded 2.

This could be a tight game.

I'll be laying a small amount on Roddick and will be trading out on whoever wins as the game progresses

Check out Acasuso's profile and current form at:

Harlosh - 26 May 2005 15:01 - 3046 of 10502

Think there is a reasonable opportunity on Sanchez v Johansson (19). Johansson lost the 1st set but looks like he's gonna break back in the 2nd.

He's currently 2.04 and falling if anyone fancies some. He has been out to 3.25ish

Fundamentalist - 26 May 2005 15:20 - 3047 of 10502

cracking afternoon on the horses so far this afternoon - not had time to look at the tennis

Harlosh - 26 May 2005 15:57 - 3048 of 10502

Johansson won the next two sets. Now in to 1.57/1.58.
