cynic - 21 Jan 2015 10:50 - 3035 of 3666

ah well; i wish i had left my short running too

aldwickk - 21 Jan 2015 11:04 - 3036 of 3666

you don't want to keep running without your shorts , lol

mitzy - 21 Jan 2015 11:54 - 3037 of 3666

Keep on falling sub 20p today.

required field - 21 Jan 2015 11:57 - 3038 of 3666

Fill ya boots Mitzy.....you don't want to be left out in the cold...

cynic - 21 Jan 2015 11:58 - 3039 of 3666

can't quite work it out ..... order books still fairly even but 31.5m already traded!
i'm out and very cross with myself

cp1 - 21 Jan 2015 12:27 - 3040 of 3666

I'm not sure Malcy is worth more than a token glance these days. He's been banging on about Caza for as long as I can recall and that's another that has just hit an ATL.

SOU another he's fallen in love with yet appearing priced for perfection. Onshore but very deep costly wells.

I think he needs reminding a few oilers now trading way below cash. Who'd a thought 12 months ago??

Anyway back to Afren and yes order book even but looks like seller just filling up into strength in book. Must be a head scratcher for investors now that Seplat appears to be their potential great saviour. Good luck everyone whatever your take.

cynic - 21 Jan 2015 12:58 - 3041 of 3666

seplat is almost certainly the ONLY possible saviour, and if so, it's unlikely PIs will see a penny - or at least that's what i think

jimmy b - 21 Jan 2015 13:48 - 3042 of 3666

How do you know that Seplat is the only saviour ? and why is it unlikely that PI's will see a penny ?

cynic - 21 Jan 2015 13:50 - 3043 of 3666

i don't know, which is why i wrote, "or at least that's what i think"

but most assuredly i know 56m traded so far today!

mitzy - 21 Jan 2015 15:00 - 3044 of 3666

In freefall.

cynic - 21 Jan 2015 15:07 - 3045 of 3666

i think this is what the economists mean by "wealth trickle down"

rekirkham - 21 Jan 2015 15:09 - 3046 of 3666

You guys seem to be talking a lot of rubbish

aldwickk - 21 Jan 2015 15:14 - 3047 of 3666

rekirkham

Whats your view on how this will go ?

jimmy b - 21 Jan 2015 15:14 - 3048 of 3666

rekirkham i'm responding to posts as to why PI's won't see a penny and Seplat is the only bidder , no one here knows it's pure speculation and yes your right rubbish.

cynic - 21 Jan 2015 15:20 - 3049 of 3666

what's your view jimmy?
i assume you think differently from me

ditto q to rekirkham

========

re another knight in shining armour .....
though some other party was suggested a week or so ago, there has neither been further noises not reports that he has increased his stake nor even an rns from afr that another party has shown interest

and no, that does not absolutely rule out the possibility

jimmy b - 21 Jan 2015 15:24 - 3050 of 3666

I don't really have one cynic ,i was kind of hoping SEPL would have made a solid offer by the 19th.
I do think another bidder could step up and i don't think at this point that PI's will be left with nothing ,the offer we have to take may not be as good as we would like ,that's possible too..

required field - 21 Jan 2015 15:28 - 3051 of 3666

The sp would climb if crude rebounds that I'm sure about.....sp at the moment is disappointing considering it's in a takeover period...

jimmy b - 21 Jan 2015 19:19 - 3052 of 3666

Exane BNP Paribas confirmed this morning its positive advice "outperform" on the action of the junior oil Nigeria's Seplat Petroleum, who approached an African competitor also listed in London, Afren. Analysts believe that the combination of the two companies' would be more sensible. " Their price target is 173 pence.
At the London Stock Exchange this morning Seplat major asset of the French group MPI (capitalizing € 350 million), which holds 21.8%, remains neutral 126.2 pence.
Despite a recovery of 16.6% over the last five sessions, it has lost half of its value in six months.
Yesterday in fact, Afren, which is an oil company 'junior' centered on Africa and the Middle East, revealed that Seplat, based in Nigeria but as it is listed on the London Stock Exchange, had approached with a view a possible merger. The discussions are still at a preliminary stage and no firm conclusions can be made at this stage.
To date, Seplat builds about 600 million pounds (about 750 million euros), and Afren some 550 million pounds (700 million euros).
According Exane if this offer materializes, it would relieve Afren recently hit by the falling prices of crude and delays in development of its deposits. Indeed, Seplat had cash of $ 435 million (€ 350 million) as at 30 October, which could help to accelerate the development of Afren.
'Seplat could afford to launch a cash offer' and securities, Exane judge, given its cash, its borrowing capacity and the value of its assets. The Nigerian group could also join with others to finance the operation.
In addition, the high credibility of the management of Seplat would raise the profile of Afren, whose general manager Osman Shahenshah and several senior executives were dismissed in October for corruption.

cynic - 21 Jan 2015 20:20 - 3053 of 3666

an interesting slant
however, seplat knows it has a strong hand and afren the opposite

jimmy b - 21 Jan 2015 22:36 - 3054 of 3666

Well they have certainly walked the price down nicely for someone ,bloody crooks !

I'd be happy with Seplat shares if i'm not ripped off .
