Football, What chances !, World Cup, Euro, Clubs, for all : home and away ! (FC)

required field - 14 Jul 2010 13:55

It is now time to switch to a new Money AM football blog as the world cup is now over and we all look to the future.....World cup 2010 is over, Bravo Espana, and Forlan, once again and bring on the new season !.....I never expected the last thread to be such a success...thanks all.... so this new one might go on for years without the need to edit the title...we shall see...

Chris Carson - 05 Jun 2014 17:54 - 3039 of 6918

Yes, he was a breath of fresh air so that is good news.

goldfinger - 05 Jun 2014 19:34 - 3040 of 6918

Yep fingers crossed Chris, just think him Barklay Lelanu sterling charging full length of pitch straight at the centre of opponents defence, its a pretty frightening (for foreigners)thought but what a lift for the nation.

Last night watched it twice again.

What stood out was how fit they were and lasted the distance in that sweaty heat, previous England teams would have wilted.

Great to see these kids all coming through at once.

And Pirlo (greasy sweaty little whop) can go to hell if our kids play like that against Italy.

Im starting to get excited now and into the World Cup, even bought a replica shirt.

required field - 05 Jun 2014 21:22 - 3041 of 6918

I liked Oxlade-Chamberlain's performance (hope I've spelt his name correctly).......superb in my view...hope he recovers well.....even if he misses one or two games....he's still worth bringing along, he creates so much space for others to run into......England can win this group, difficult as it is !....England better be careful with injuries caused by careless opposing teams....I'm very suspicious of these so-called accidental injuries just before or during early stages of major tournaments !...

goldfinger - 06 Jun 2014 13:22 - 3042 of 6918

RF yep it would be disaster if Gerrard got injured hes the only player in the squad who can play in front AND protect the back four.

Lampards a good player and hes Gerrards deputy but we all saw the other night just how exposed we can be on the counter attack and Lampard isnt that type of player.

I suppose Jones could do the job but then youd be taking away the attacking role needed in that position and the experience.

I just pulled Colombia in the sweepstake.

Bit harsh Stan, ok the defence was shite but they won't be playing. Plenty of positives especially Barkley and Oxley Chamberlain and Milner won't be playing in that position again he's better than that.

---

It would've helped if the midfield didn't let Ecuador waltz through. Think the defence improved a lot during the game - ex Milner - given there was no cover. No surprise only bringing Johnson does nothing for England. Clyne is half decent, which is a half better than Johnson. 5 3 2? Wilshere still with the hardman act,.

No Falcao doesn't help.

Cheers,

Chris Carson - 08 Jun 2014 00:27 - 3045 of 6918

Well that was forgettable!

ExecLine - 08 Jun 2014 11:56 - 3046 of 6918

Only watched the first half before the electrical storm caused the stoppage and then the last 20 minutes or so of the match, so you are probably right.

One of the worst international matches I've seen. Very aggressive play by the Hondurans, coupled with poor refereeing, caused England to lose part of the plot. Gerrard was a bit too aggressive in his role as captain too, I thought.

And the chances missed by Sturridge?!!! Don't these guys practice improving their accuracy at this level? Do they not realise how poor their passing and shooting actually is?

Also, they were more than lucky to get out of the match without any injuries, IMHO.

Stan - 08 Jun 2014 18:12 - 3047 of 6918

If England get past the qualifying stage .. I'll start supporting Carfuff City -):

Couldn't even beat Honduras ,the load of overpaid annoying chavs ..

Chris Carson - 08 Jun 2014 22:29 - 3049 of 6918

Better to get the shit out the way now than wait for the start of the tournament. Hope Woy gave Sturridge a flea in the ear for his poor imitation of Ronaldo step-overs. If you can't shoot pass the ball knob head. And if or when he does score he does that stupid dance hope he gets a crate never mind a can thrown at him :O)

jimmy b - 08 Jun 2014 23:21 - 3050 of 6918

Better to get the shit out of the way now ,, what just show how crap England always is ?? they should be ready by now for gods sake !!!!! if their not ready now when will they be ???
you just know they will be out early ,it's a bit like when we sent Richard Dunn out to fight Muhammad Ali in Germany ,same odds ,,,except at least he kept getting off the floor and fighting on with no chance....
I'll say it again overpaid load of annoying chavs .

Watch Wimbledon , it takes a great sportsman/woman to win a grand slam , one on one gladiators sport the same as boxing , no where to hide ,no where to run ,you have to face the best to come out on top ...

Yes Stan true blood and guts sportsmen .

Stan - 11 Jun 2014 09:57 - 3053 of 6918

World Cup 2014: England assess Danny Welbeck thigh injury!

Well if he's out Hodgson should waste no time and fly Danny Ings out to make the squad numbers up. Theres always a surprise packet in every World Cup and Danny could well be ours.

Dil - 11 Jun 2014 10:16 - 3054 of 6918

Think you'll be supporting Cardiff next year Stan.

Uruguay are way over rated imo and think a draw against Italy will see England through comfortably but a narrow loss won't be a disaster either.

Can't wait til the knock out stages and they either get stuffed by Germany or lose on penalties :-)

Stan - 11 Jun 2014 10:18 - 3055 of 6918

Absolutely right Dil, We have no chance as it stands despite the usual hype.

Stan - 11 Jun 2014 11:54 - 3056 of 6918

Oi Dil, I see your lot couldn't even get into this Word Cup let alone the big one -):http://www.welshpremier.com/news/WPL96915.ink
