Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).
Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.
cheers GF.

The red flag flyers would appear to be rampant today! Knobheads is a lovely descriptive word don't you think? Shakespear quote "Me thinketh they do protest to much" slight alteration to match the event, but you get the meaning. Fred you pussy challenge me to a game of chess, go on you know you want to. I may even refrain from giving you your usual accolade of Gobshite of the year (recurring) :O)
PS please don't crack on you have me on the naughty step, we both know that isn't true. Your self inflated ego would never allow it!

Everyone should read this especialy those that think sick and disabled people are shirkers.......
Letters: There’s Nothing ‘Fair’ About The Government Treatment Of Sick And Disabled People
Posted by wns_adminOn October 02, 2013
‘It’s about being fair’, said a Tory on Channel 4 news tonight. What does this government know about being fair?!
Is it fair that sick and disabled people are losing their independence and forced into poverty, or even a premature death, after having their benefits removed?
I find it convenient that the Department for Work and Pensions will not reveal the latest death figures for those who have died after being found ‘fit for work’. They no longer keep count apparently. What does that tell you about their approach to transparency?
Is it fair that people, including the sick, disabled and elderly, are being turfed out of their homes due to ‘Bedroom Tax’?! They promise exemptions, but very few have been put in place.
Is it fair to exploit unemployment people by forcing them to work for free on ‘workfare’ with the threat of having the only means to support themselves (their benefits) being taken away from them?!
It’s slave labour if you ask me! Get a person to work for less money than you would pay in wages. And how is that supposed to help the economy? It doesn’t! The only people it helps are employers and big business to get free labour and cut their wage bills, and it takes paid jobs away from those looking for work.
How is taking housing benefit away for people under twenty-five fair?! It will only lead to more homelessness and hardship. A situation which has are already seeing in towns and cities across the country.
Subjecting ill, disabled, and vulnerable people to a Work Compatibility Assessment which has been set up to make us fail, (including those with degenerative conditions and those that won’t improve) – how is that fair!?
Victimising the poorest and most vulnerable people in society by calling them ‘scroungers’, ‘fakers’ and ‘fraudsters’ based on highly questionable figures – is that fair!?
Telling the public that benefit claimant’s get ‘something for nothing’, when in reality every single one of us pays to live in this society through taxes on things we have to buy – is that fair!?
We struggle to live every single day of our lives against pain, exhaustion and illness. None of which I would wish on my worst enemy! We are ‘strivers’ – despite what this government would have the public believe! We have to ‘strive’ for every…little…thing!
Ignoring the truth that the majority of benefit claimants have worked at some point in our lives and contributed to society – is that fair!?
No,.. it isn’t fair! None of it is fair, and it needs to stop, now!
Nobody chooses to have a disability or to be ill, and nobody deserves to be treated like this government are treating us!
We are not second class citizens! We are not scum! We are people! We deserve the same respect, compassion and consideration as anybody else! I for one am sick of being a scapegoat for the mistakes of this government, big business and bankers. Tax them, not those that can least afford it!
It’s about being fair is it?! If this is fair, I would hate to think what unfair is!
We are paying with our lives! I am sick of being judged and being made to feel like I am worthless, just because I have a disability, and on top of that, illnesses which add to what I already go through.
I want this government to show me some respect!. I want to feel like I am valued in society!
One thing is easily forgotten: Illness and disability can happen to anyone,.. at any time. This government would do well to remember that!

What a pile of garbage. Disabled claimants have to be assessed, otherwise anyone who filled in a form claiming to disabled would just get paid. The reality is that there have been people getting away with claims fraudulently. The bulk of assessments are accepted as correct. This is just loony left wing propaganda and should be ignored.

The article above more or less sums up what I find in my voluntary post every weekend helping the sick and disabled with their claims for just about a living payment that does not cover household assets like a new bed or a new chair or even a new oven, all second hand of course from charitys.
Now if David Cameron could see how they have to live and spend a month with them perhaps hed have more compassion than the nasty bollshy attitude hes declared on everyone and even them that arent capable of work through sickness and disability.
Remember it could be you mother your father, your grandmother, your brother, your son or daughter.

The levels of disability payments have been set by all previous governments. The changes are about a fairer system, not that it matters if you don't like it.

Haystack filtered. This time a life ban.
He clearly has no knowledge of the incapacity assesment process pioneered by labour set up by the present government where only between 40% and 44% are declared unfit to work by ATOS the French agency policing the system. It is not true that they get nearly all the assesments right.
People have died and I mean well over 500 after they were found to be capable of work!!!. This includes people with terminal cancer, liver heart and kidney blood disease and others, and a great number of suicides.
Fraud is now virtually nil after the Tory government set up the ESA work test. BUT the number of people going to an appeal is rising and those winning is going up by the day.
The level of Disability payment was set up by THE PRESENT government and is capped at 1% rise annualy.
A comparison between long term unemployed and life disabled cannot be compared, the unemployed person has the ability to work again and buy goods and services the disabled person in most cases is disabled for the rest of their life and cannot work.
Haystack,s conduct above leads me to think that he is not worth conversing with anymore, hes totaly wrong on the system and more importantly he shows no compassion and quite frankly I think he is well out of order a sad sick individual. God help him.

fred - shame on you for filleting in a "class" comment ..... totally untrue and unwarranted
sticky+fred - with some reluctance, for i would never ever join one and nor i suspect would my children, i concede that there is a need and use for unions ..... my problem with them, though perhaps it's inevitable, unions as they stand look to have very little interest in the wellbeing of the company and, in the case of teaching, in the children
it is undeniable that many or even most schools have a sufficient number of disruptive children that can cause disproportionate problems for the rest, but this is not the thread to discuss why that should be ..... however, this was why my previous post commented that exam results per se should not be the sole or even main criteria for assessing a teacher's worth
moving on to sacking bad teachers ..... i think i am correct in saying that the union will make this (pretty much) as difficult as possible, which gets back to the thrust of my opening paragraph
of course, on the other side, it would be very foolish to pretend that there is good management in all schools ...... however, as in any other business, a teacher always has the option to seek alternative employment
in conclusion, i did not say there was an easy answer or indeed an obvious one to the question raised .... i merely wished to ask others what they thought - without the stupid red herring of "class" being pointlessly interjected

sticky - 30428 - almost a better question would be "how much of more tax would you accept to pay to create and fund your desired welfare state?" ...... a true answer to that would generally be, "none at all"

Of the million or so (formally disabled) people who have suddenly been deemed capable of picking up their beds and walking (atos).
Where have they gone?

i would certainly agree that it can be surprisingly or even ridiculously hard for someone to claim disability of similar allowance - i personally know 2 specific cases where it was refused, and where any normal person would have said, "of course you qualify"
HMRC is also more than reluctant to shell out when it should ..... for myself, i had to wait several months before HMRC paid out the amount already agreed, and am still arguing a slightly different issue where the rules say "x" but HMRC refuse to admit it or indeed even respond to my accountant of the issue .... the problem then is that it is risking life and limb to go in hard, as HMRC can then get very spiteful and instigate a full investigation of one's tax affairs ..... this is very time consuming and expensive with no recourse as/when nothing is found remiss
reverting to "benefits" in general, it would certainly seem that there is a core of people who know how to work the system either for themselves or in guiding others .... the perception is that a section of the immigrant population is singularly adept at this .... of course, this is purely anecdotal and one does not know the actuality

Cynic and others.
If you didn't view Newsnight last night, risk a listen view Paxman interview with Maude on the Welfare changes.
It is embarrassing and shows one of the next U-turns for the bucket.
It shows this tory party's incompetence at planning and a leading spark lying between his teeth.
The interview is about 5-10 mins into the programme.

The GP system in England is facing a "catastrophe" because of cuts in funding, doctors' leaders are warning.
Analysis by the Royal College of GPs suggests that over the past three years, investment in general practice has fallen by £400m in real terms.
That is equivalent to a 7% cut in spending per patient, it says.
The government said it was providing new funding to help under-pressure GPs, but Labour said the figures showed ministers' promises had not been kept.

Mind he will need Boris to help him out in some areas.
