Remember to bring jacket and tie for the evening. If wearing tailored shorts, white socks must be worn.

Also no headbutting, gouging or biting and may the best man (me!) win.

Looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow. I will be at the clubhouse by about 0815, so suggest everyone else gets there not long after so we can have a chat over a cup of coffee. Eric, will find out today if any food will be available on arrival.

Fantasy Island Championship course? Hey, the way I am putting at the moment, I think I would still manage a 3-putt even on this green!!!

Just for the record, Craig: It is standard R&A protocol that "Those golfers wishing not to wear long trousers MUST wear white Plus-4 stockings...". Fact. So I'm afraid your blonde is DQ'd. Sorry, mate!!!

ptholden - 20 Jun 2005 17:05 - 310 of 440

Just to keep you abreast of events. Cheques paid in today. Am counting on 12 or maybe 13 entrants (Fundy's fitness permitting). Am now committed to paying a minimum of 600, which includes PJ plus two guests. So make sure you bring 2 guests Paul becuase you will have to pay 150 anyway.

I haven't forgotten that I need to check on the prices for two guests for dinner, although I have forgotten who asked! Too lazy to check through the thread, but if you could confirm if the 2 places are still required I will book spaces accordingly.

Due to the fact that we were unable to attract over 20 entrants the cost is exactly 50. I suggest on the day that we all pay an extra 5 to split between two nearest the pins and the longest drive, standard competition practise anyway. I will throw in a couple of bottles of Gran Reserva Rioja and I think Eric will be bringing a bottle also.

I haven't heard any complaints about the choice of Steak & Ale Pie for the Dinner main course so will go for that option. A vegetarian dish is available if required, but please let me know soonest.

Don't forget Jacket and tie for Dinner and a Quality Hotel is but a mile away if required.

Any problems or questions, best ask soon.

Looking forward to seeing you all on the day.

pth thanks for all your hard work. see you on the 27th

markusantonius - 21 Jun 2005 11:34 - 312 of 440

Looking a Wilbs's picture (above), the holes will have to be double that size for me next week, I think...... Played 2 rounds on the main course (White Tees) at Slaley Hall, Northumberland, over the weekend (excellent course / facilities, etc.) but didn't even break a 100 on Day 2. There were mitigating circumstances but reckon I will be up to 12 handicap before next Monday!

wilbs - 21 Jun 2005 11:40 - 313 of 440

Anyone mind if I bring the Mrs up for the day??

markusantonius - 21 Jun 2005 11:43 - 314 of 440

With it being a 36-hole event, I feel it my obligation to accept applications for a caddy. Preference will be given to those applicants wearing dark sleeveless tops!

paul1812 - 21 Jun 2005 13:22 - 315 of 440

36 holes I will need a caddy as well. Any volunteers, what about wilbs Mrs?

wilbs - 21 Jun 2005 13:35 - 316 of 440

Here you go markus & paul, you will both have to fight it out on the day as to witch one you want.

PJ raised a valid point in an email earlier today. Just in case the weather by some miracle stays hot, dress code on the course is tailored shorts, with white socks only.......plus a top of course. Same goes in the clubhouse during the day. Note, wife's ankle socks not allowed! Unless she looks like wilbs' mrs!

paul1812 - 22 Jun 2005 08:45 - 318 of 440

No spikes, could be difficult. Seriously, pth can we wear hard spikes or must they be soft spikes?

wilbs - 22 Jun 2005 11:44 - 319 of 440

got pic back now

pjacobs (MoneyAM) - 22 Jun 2005 12:13 - 320 of 440

hard spikes in this weather will be less effective than soft spikes. the alternative paul is to wear a pair of flip flops, im sure one of the competitors will have a spare pair for you!!!! :)

markusantonius - 22 Jun 2005 13:17 - 321 of 440

Far too hot for golf today, chaps. May go to the Range later, I definitely need the practise. Otherwise I will be favourite for Monday's booby prize, for sure!!

wilbs - 22 Jun 2005 13:25 - 322 of 440

markus, Id go for the booby prize if I were you mate. Theres two up for grabs.(excuse the pun).

markusantonius - 22 Jun 2005 13:31 - 323 of 440

I concede - any chance of receiving my prize right now? I need something to cheer me up!!

ptholden - 22 Jun 2005 14:55 - 324 of 440

paul

I stopped short of naming every bit of clothing required, but knew someone would mentions underpants or something!! LoL

Soft spikes are probably best, although the club doesn't seem too bothered by hard.

A bit of bad news, have been told that we won't be able to have a Texas Scramble in the morning, club rule apparently. Still, shouldn't be a problem, you will all have to hit the ball in the same direction so you can talk.

mg - 22 Jun 2005 17:41 - 325 of 440

PTH
I must admit I was surprised when you suggested it. My club only allows it on high days and holidays - usually at the discretion of El Kapitan. Members get pi@@ed off when following - what's new ;)

mg
(And I'll fight markus for the wooden spoon - unless I can fathom out how to get off the tee - I used to be able to do it. so it could be sh@t or bust on Monday)

PS - really looking forward to it!!

markusantonius - 22 Jun 2005 18:00 - 326 of 440

Don't worry, MG..... After Sun./Mon.'s hacking at Slaley Hall, I've now got 5 days of continuous golf lined up: 2 away days on the NW coast followed by a 36 hole Club comp over the weekend. Then it's the Biggie on Monday: Fully expect to be playing off 12 come Mon. afternoon, no doubts!!

PTH, Have you got the 3 / 4 balls tee-off times sorted out for the afternoon yet, e.g. are we doing the norm - lowest handicaps off first and so on or are we just throwing balls up in the air? What's the plan, Pete?
