THURSDAY, 08 JUNE, 2006 *
So several months have passed... Based on the success of last Summer's Event at Longcliffe G.C., a few of you have asked me to take over the reigns from PTH and organise another G0LF M0NEY-AM DAY again based in the MIDLANDS. This is fairEST to the majority coming from all over the UK! From initial feedback (reflecting on 2005 36-Hole hot mid-Summer's day!), the popular view for a 2006 Event has been agreed, as follows: -
* Tea/Coffee on arrival.
* 9 Holes (4BBB 3/4 Stab.) Comp.
* Sandwiches/Lunch.
** 18 Holes (MAIN INDIVIDUAL (FULL HANDICAP) STABLEFORD EVENT) with M-AM and Golfing Prizes for Winners, incl. "Nearest-to-the-Pin" on the 9th. Hole and "The-Longest-Drive" on the 18th. Hole.
* 3-Course Evening Dinner (full waitress service), incl. coffee & mints + Prize Presentation/Mic. Table.
(** ADDITIONAL PRIZES from our generous SPONSORS include: - 3 months worth of Shares Magazine sent to the homes of EACH COMPETITOR every week. The Overall Winner will get The Money-AM Annual Golf Challenge Cup to keep for good plus 1 year's worth of Money-AM Level 2 service worth 357.50 + Vat. The Runner-Up and Third Placed Winners will each get a medal to keep plus 6 months' level 2.)
Venue: - H0RSLEY L0DGE G.C., Belper, Derbyshire (Championship Meadowland Course with American-type Greens). Refreshments will be in the On-Site Kingfisher Restaurant. Entry Fee is: - 60 per Competitor which will cover all of the above ** plus enough to buy some additional golfing prizes.

Ugh! Now, what is in the best interests of markus? First thought is that he will choose positions where he understands the vagaries and how to get at the pins. Second thought is that he will choose positions that he knows Fliper doesn't like. Third thought is that I was brought up putting at Pitlochry which made the 16th at Augusta look like child's play so I say: 'do your worst!'

Eric
if Pitlochry is the course i am thinking of, the first time i played there i hit 2 shots into the first about 15ft past a pin on the front edge. Thought id holed the putt only to watch in disbelief as it lipped out and kept going. Had to get my wedge back out and walk back down the hill!!!!
By the time id finished the 3rd that spring couldnt come soon enough

The shark knows I can draw or fade the ball into the pins . He has told me of a restaurant that I can eat for free , the night before the big day !

Markus , I see you have a new website , www.sharkenergy.co.uk , is this the drink that adds 50 yards to your drive ?

Brock123, I have received your cheque from Ian T today. Thanks for acting so swiftly, Tom. I only wish others would follow your lead! Spoke with HL management today and your room is now reserved until a fortnight prior to the Event, i.e. you need to contact them directly to make a nominal deposit by the 25th. May, latest.
Fliper, I needed some energy today... played in HL Medal this morning [see, mornings DO exist!]: 86 - and the worrying thing is this - Course was immaculate and the greens were the best I have seen them since I first joined. No-one in front or behind - "millionaires' golf!" - beautiful weather - breathtaking scenery - omnipresent lush green ambience - very good company - The Shark simply: "had a mare", sadly - 36 putts which is cataclysmic pour moi, as you know. :o(
Eric, do not worry, sir, Yours Truly CAN get up early when he has to. Yes, tight pin positions on HL can make up to a 4 - 5 stroke difference to the average player but sharks just attack whatever is put in their way, remember? :o)
PTH, You may well get cut anyway on 'Clause 19' as your '9' will default down to a nett double-bogey and so forth.

Bite? Errrr, pot calling kettle methinks!! This particular hook has been well and truly swallowed by the so-called shark. Mind you not much of a shark on the golf course at the moment, more like a stickleback :-)
As you are so confident of beating me, lets make that the bet, I win, you pay my entry fee, you win, I...........err.............buy you a pint!! Fair enough?

PS. 86 NETT??? Wish I had been there, would have popped a rib laughing!!

Made my first venture onto the couse today, most enjoyable it was too. Only played 9 holes at the local public course but managed 2 birdies and an eagle (wdie open course and front tees). Still hoping to make the day but having big probs re moving house that week

Mark
Thanks for the offer to accommodate my friend in the golf competition.
Unfortunatley, he suffered a bad knee injury on Monday which will keep out of golf for at least 3 months.(I think he fell off his wallet).
Look forward to meeting you all on 8th Jun.

Oh ok - guess I'll go if M goes ... just to watch the feathers flying off the birdies :)
You'll have to ask him nicely now though, Markie Mark - I'll hold the stick while he holds the bottle.

P.S. Rutherford, re: your "Wooden Spoon" suggestion... Good idea, sir. But better ask PTH if he's still got it? Our 2005 Inaugural Host only scored 16 pts last year on his own course, poor lad! I'm told he still has quite a few of these in his Trophy Cabinet though.

Happy to take pth at 10:1! Mind, I will need to be his caddie. Stop him trying to whack the ball out of sight. Tight drive? - sorry Peter, here's your 5-wood. Go for tight well-binklered green with 3-wood? - sorry, Peter, here's your 5 iron for a nice lay up, then chip and putt for your par. Only condition? - Peter does likewise for me.
