The International Monetary Fund has upgraded its growth forecasts for the UK by more than any other advanced economy in an embarrassing u-turn for the global financial institution.

Britain is now expected to grow by 1.4pc this year, double the rate projected in April when IMF chief economist Olivier Blanchard singled the UK out for criticism and accused George Osborne of “playing with fire” with his austerity programme.

The following month, the Fund urged him to borrow as much as £10bn this year to pay for infrastructure investment and business tax cuts in an attempt to boost growth.

The IMF appeared to moderate its position in its World Economic Outlook, saying that "public investment can be brought forward to offset the drag from near-term fiscal tightening, while staying within the medium term fiscal framework". In May, it said action was "essential".

Instead, it acknowledged the UK’s sharp turnaround, saying: “Recent data have shown welcome signs of an improving economy, consistent with increasing consumer and business confidence.”

Up 2% from monday, i knew the Uni admission fees would go down badly......

The Conservatives could have fewer members than the UK Independence Party within five years unless the Tory leadership fixes its “broken” relationship with grassroots activists, a think tank has warned.

The Bow Group called for an electoral pact with Nigel Farage’s party to stop members abandoning the Tories because they disagree with David Cameron’s policies on gay marriage and the European Union. Tory membership has almost halved, to just 134,000, since David Cameron became leader in 2005.

A poll earlier this month found that 30 per cent of Tory backbenchers were “definitely not” attending the party’s annual gathering in Manchester.

David Davis, who fought Mr Cameron for the Conservative leadership, said that the “tame” conference revealed how the conversation between the party’s leadership and activists had “broken down”.

David Davis is still upset that he lost the leadership battle.

I think a lot of conservatives were also upset that Cameroon got the job over Davis.

The tory party faithful have been conned by Cameron, Osborne and his Bullingdon Club Cronies




The country has been fragmented by their policies and inequalities in social opportunities been reduced by these con men.

The party should be called the Revival party for Elitism.

To-days economic figures support what many are saying that Osborne is a failure and Cameron is falsifying the growth expectancies.

My guess is the public is realising this more and more rapidly and that Labour will be returned at the next general election with an overall majority.
