DOW JONES @ LIVECHARTS

Stop moved down my stop loss for a 19 point profit.
I've put a limit stop on for an 80 point profit as well.

It feels good to be in a win/win situation for a change.

Got to go down the launderette now.

just closed my first short at 9703 (opened at 9772) giving 69pts nett gain.
Looking at more opps.

What do you think it will go down to?

Afternoon all...been a while but made two quick exits from Dow ...CMC a mess tele lines not working earlier...agghhh...!

1st from 9791 -9737 - 54 points..

2nd -9763 - 9747 -15 points -

830 quid...

taken a $10 long out from 9747 -

inc case it heads up again...20-30points again...to 9767

If it heads south Im happy...what do u all think today?

Jules closed the first short at 69 @20/pt =gain of 1380
have just opened a long at 9738 and keeping options open. I think i am being greedy and hoping it will touch 9790.

Will keep u posted as how we are sailing or cruising during the day.
Watch out for the sharks and typhoons.South china seas are notorious for this and in our case Pacific is not that peaceful.

I still have 65 shorts, but now im able to go long also...which I was not able to do before...Will leave long open for an hour or so now...I want to try and learn how to hedge both sides at the same time...you did well opening long at 9738...well done...good call..

I visualise market heading upto 9780/9790....but closing around 9735...

and heading south On monday....

But what the hell do I know...lol...

Jules: Just opened another long at 9710.
You are right seems to br range bound at present. Maybe they have left the machines in charge and gone away for lunch (could be vice versa and the machines are having lunch and i hope its not us for their snack)!!!!

9729 is the lowest it fell on my indicator...IG let you have a long from 9710...excellent...

Im long from 9747/50 today...either way I get something today...:-)

idealy upto 9790 and then a reverse....

Jules I am on Dec Dow and it opens at 9718 (not 9710 my typing error) the lowest it went was at 9700 on igindex dec dow.

What is the spread like on cfd that u are using as i am on sb.

dec dow...intersting as I trade CMC DOW30 FUTURES...opened at 9791...been as low as 9729..

CMC CFD spread is 5 points but the spread is never in your favour, they definatley skew...by being able to short n long helps though...

SB I dont do...ZARIF do u have a long and short OPEN at same time..and do close u close all positions evry nite...?

I take long and shorts most of the time when i feel they are at extremes and if there is mid range that is giving a margin up and down then will take simultaneous long and short.(these i close as soon as they get in decent profits).I sometimes end up leaving either a long or short open for next day and if feel that it will be fulfilled soon.

My god when is it going to take a trek upwards?

My short got closed out on the limit for 79 points.
Considering that whole trade was done from what I learned at the
Finspreads seminar, which was free, it was well worth going.

closed off part longs kept 25 open ...in case intraday opening it goes up next week....9750 ish...

Still have $55 shorts opens...20/10 hedge overall...in case dow hit 10000, that way I can cover margin calls etc...

was hoping market would finish neare 9745/50...20points out, saying that it closed at just under the important mark of 9725...which means in could well open high first next week before trailing back much further...under 9700, in which case will close off longs...and open daily shorts for quick plays...

The bottom line I haven't a scooby...lol..

Hope all did well...it is so important to have a stategy that works and an exit plan if things look ugly...and not be afraid to take a cut in profit or take a loss and run...

Hi,
Got 2 longs open and will be happy to close them off at around 9750 and be positive.
I closed the shorts off with good earnings and will sleep soundly tonight.
The nightmare will start sunday late night when the Jap market awakens and hopefully monday the ftse does not take a southbound and take the dow down with it.
then again it may open upwards and hey presto alls solved

Jules you were up very early today.
What do you reckon the dow is going to unleash on us today?
My thoughts are that it is going to take a hike upwards and if succesively past 9725-9730 onwards a steep rise. That will do nicely as my 2 longs are already in credit - but am going to wait (greed factor) and also with the nightmare that it gave us on friday i want to fleece it.

Some useless Philosophy while counting down to open:

Help! Anyone out there a previous Nothing Ventured user? They've sold out to Fastrade and we've all been moved over to that site.

What a mess - this Fastrade site is crap. I'm so pissed off I can hardly type this message. NV was such a brilliant trading tool and now we've got this. What the hell are they playing at. Couldn't those numbskulls at Charles Stanley see that the NV site was much superior to there own and use that instead and just stick their Fastrade badge onto it.

Any ex-NV users please let me know what your thoughts are today.

I have started a new thread to discuss the NV/Fastrade issue.
