rather than pick out individual stocks to trade, it can often be worthwhile to trade the indices themselves, especially in times of high volatility.

for those so inclined, i attach below charts for FTSE and FTSE 250, though one might equally be tempted to trade Dow or S&P, which is significantly broader in its coverage, or even NASDAQ

imo fwiw i can see the DOW going down 500 first at open dragging us back down before we see a pull back, then Bush is going to have his little speech which wont make a blind bit of difference, but by tonight the worst will be over, and next week we can do things and other stuff...

If you can do magic like that DD, I suggest you turn your wand towards the market and turn this bear into a bull....

Sorry to hear it DD. Been there myself many years ago, and probably there now without knowing it (through my dwindling pension pot). Hopefully it will recover though. Although I'm totally bearish, I know if the markets continue to tank like this, we'll all be in very deep doo doo soon, share holder or not, this mess ruins lives.

DOW futures still showing in negative territory (-119) so suggest caution in getting sucked in to a short bounce this morning.

Dow actually hit 8236 overnight so 8400 did not hold! Amazing gap trade this morning that did not participate in, well done to those who did dropping back now though

Still got some to trade though Strawbs so I'm still smiling.

Well ! I could kick myself for not understanding this market well enough....sold some stock, but should have sold the lot weeks ago ! blast it !.
