Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).
Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.
cheers GF.

A list of every major price rise on life's essentials to occur under David Cameron
Wages have grown at an average of 1.5% a year for the last 3 years, and wages have grown by 6% since the Tories came to power. The reason you have not felt the benefits of these pay rises (or freezes as I recognise for many of you) is that prices have been rising much quicker than wages. Below I detail 8 key sectors of the economy that are essential to our survival. I'm not interested in the rising costs of luxury items, or the profits companies wish to make from things we do not need, the focus of this research is on the items we need to survive. Food, Water, Shelter, Heat, Electricity, Rail, Bus, Stamps are the day to day basics we all rely upon to conduct our daily business, such as traveling to work. Prices in these areas have been sky rocketing far and above wages for the last 304 years and perhaps longer. If you wish to explore the evidence I based my calculations upon then please see the hyper links that you can click on in brackets after each item on the list.
Price Rises since 2010
1.Stamps 46%-56% (evidence here).
2.Electricity 22-39% (evidence here).
3.Gas 17-45% (evidence here).
4.Private Rents up £1,100 a year (here, here).
5.Food 19% (here).
6.Water Charges 20% (here, here, here).
7.Bus Fares 22% (here, here, here).
8.Rail Fares 27% (here, here).
A breakdown of Food Rises (evidence here).
•Vegetables 15%.
•Potatoes 20%.
•Fish 26%.
•Fruit 49%.

Really, for cod and chips?
That's a lot more expensive than doon sarf, but there again, southerners know how to count, and don't get chipped out of their benefits money quite so easily.

Chippies? I know we are on a financial website but I'm more concerned with "quality" over price in general. Also the principal of the "fresher the better" is vital in terms of taste as we know, so the nearer the sea the better as far as sea fish is concerned for me!
My latest best was here: Sylvesters Fish & Chips (Takeaway)
3 Meeting Street,Appledore,Bideford,EX39 1RJ.

The best tasting Fish & Chips I've ever sampled. The fish being delicious (caught the same day) and proper big crispy chips... wish I lived nearer -):

Best fish and chips I've found in Aberdeen. The food is cooked to order so it is fresh but this means waiting a few minutes which is ok for me because its worth the wait.

“Best fish and chips ever!”
5 of 5 starsReviewed 30 August 2013
Eaten F&C from Hass many times and its normally good. But tonight, my oh my, when the food was plated at home, wow. The fish was still super crisp on the outside but juicy and succulent within, and the chips were fluffy and light with a crisp golden skin. Easily the best fish and chip supper I have ever eaten....

“Always a Delight”
4 of 5 starsReviewed 3 August 2013 via mobile
We eat here around twice a month as its the only chip shop in Aberdeen that your food is generally cooked to order these days. The burgers are lovely as are the pies and you always get a good portion size. Only thing you can criticise is the chips. Sometimes they are brilliant the next they are a bit hard...

“Best fish 'n' chips”
5 of 5 starsReviewed 29 July 2013 via mobile
Always heard really good reviews about Hass's so I was keen to try it. the shop itself is always busy any night of the week and for a chip shop, it's very clean. I had the fish and Chips which was cooked from fresh so it did take about 10-15 mins. The fish and chips were lovely and it really...

“Nice chips but too expensive!”
4 of 5 starsReviewed 7 July 2013
I like Hass's because the service and chips are great! The chicken fillets are always cooked through properly yet lovely and moist and tasteful but my god it's expensive for what you get!! 2 chicken fillet suppers, mushy peas and curry sauce only just gives us change from £20! Down South is much cheaper for fish and chips and why...

Yep agree with what Stan says the nearer you are to the sea the better fish and chips are. Fish is always a lot fresher.
Inland its been stored in ice and driven in vans, no where near as fresh.
Some good chippies in Blackpool area especially Fleetwood, but havent been for a while.
Think its about time I did.
