Tonker, I can't comment on the issue of shorting, but I shall certainly be watching Petroneft with interest, as it could indeed have a lot of potential.

Tonker - 25 Sep 2006 21:10 - 315 of 934

I love shorting new IPO's, I have done so well out of it... This one might be a little risky though, but it looks like there are going to be some developements, as long as things go ok....

Frampton - 26 Sep 2006 08:28 - 316 of 934

Tonker, surely you mean holding for the short term rather than selling short? "Shorting" and "a good short" implies you are selling rather than buying, but maybe that is what you mean?

Confidant - 26 Sep 2006 08:32 - 317 of 934

Tonker -- I like your style

moneyplus - 26 Sep 2006 10:13 - 318 of 934

check out the brilliant figures out today from RCG-not many companies like this out there. should do very well from the next Olympics.

soul traders - 26 Sep 2006 10:18 - 319 of 934

Forum Energy (FEP) - has just found huge loads of gas offshore Phillippines. Looks like imitating VOG.

The SP is up 75% already today.

DYOR.

will do-thanks ST.

soul traders - 26 Sep 2006 10:28 - 321 of 934

Always a pleasure MP - good luck :o)

moneyplus - 26 Sep 2006 12:11 - 322 of 934

blue already ST-thanks.

soul traders - 26 Sep 2006 14:16 - 323 of 934

Nice one MP - I think you'll find if you look again it's even bluer. Up 106% from yesterday's close. I'm up a more modest 21%, my Dad's up 16% - you could say we're both pretty chuffed too.

IMHO there is more to come; can't quite understand the attitude of some, but I could be wrong, so let each call it as he or she sees fit.

Tonker - 26 Sep 2006 19:33 - 324 of 934

Frampton, sorry I am probably useing the wrong term. I like to buy share just after they have floated, and then sell very soon afterwards.... It takes time to pick good stocks to do this with.... Sometimes I sell 2 or 3 mins after purchase, some times I let them run for longer, setting a rolling stop loss of 8%. It is a great specialization, that suits my impatient mind.... I also like buying in to stocks when they are low, and selling high very shortly afterwards.... hopefully..
I should set up a new IPOs thread?

Tonker - 26 Sep 2006 19:35 - 325 of 934

By the way PetroNeft Resources Plc did not float today, must have been delayed...

Tonker - 26 Sep 2006 19:37 - 326 of 934

It will be tommorrow, floatation of PetroNeft Resources Plc...

Frampton - 27 Sep 2006 08:28 - 327 of 934

Thanks for the clarification Tonker, I thought that was probably what you meant. It sounds like a good system, although I have to admit I'm much more of a "buy hold" type investor. As for buying into stocks when they are low and selling when they are high - isn't that what we should all be aiming for?! (not that it always works out that way)

soul traders - 27 Sep 2006 11:39 - 328 of 934

SOLA running away with itself again:

SOLA Bid: 193p Offer: 196p Change: 22.5

Most gaming stocks diving today could be a bounce on some but take care.

Congress unexpectedly passed a bill at the weekend which will make unlawful the receipt by a gambling business of proceeds or monies in connection with unlawful internet gambling.

Sportingbet at 75p -60%
World Gaming at 15p. -72%
Partygaming at 43p.-55%
Leisure & Gaming at 12p -62%
Gaming Corp 6p - 20%
Gaming vc 117p -17%
NETELLER 144 - 60%

snap driver ..... i posted to that effect on anothere thread devoted to the sector

cynic
Great minds, I'm not in this sector but have been tempted in the past.

kimoldfield - 02 Oct 2006 09:35 - 332 of 934

I can't understand why the USA are against gambling, they've got George Bush as president, surely the biggest gamble of all!! I only hold 1200 Partygaming, which were bought from profits on sale of SBT so I am just holding long term, feel sorry for those caught out today but the sector has never been one for the faint-hearted.
My favourite stocks at the moment are DGT, ERX and SUN. SUN is the least exciting but the one with a solid build and steady increase in T/O etc.

almost certainly because the land-based casino lobby - e.g. Vegas, Atlantic City etc - see a large slab of their profits going out of the door ...... assuredly not a moral issue at stake!
