fundy,i upgraded screens a couple of months ago and went for the
http://www.savastore.com/productinfo/product.aspx?catalog_name=Savastore&product_id=10278397&pid=206
iam now running 4 of these and i think they were worth getting, fast 12ms bright colours and i just plugged them in and did not touch the settings, did not need to i was just so happy with them, and they are better then my 2 Iiyama i have running with them,(as4611ut 18")
i have had 2 Matrox 450 Dual-Head (pci slot) and a 550 agp slot running for about 4 years and not had a problem with them,

19" screens are much cheaper nowdays and worth paying an extra 80 for bigger size, here is a link to some 19" from saveastore (watford electronics)

Spaceman

Very nice but I bet you end up running 3 monitors ;)

Re 19" monitors. The advantage depends on your eyesight, 19" have the same number of pixels as a 17" but they are bigger and therefore easier to read.

Spaceman - 26 Mar 2005 15:13 - 3149 of 11003

O that 2405 is 24 inch but I would love 2 or 3 or mabye 4 !

Hi Guy's.
Just found this little devil,
E:\WINDOWS\System32\mscnt.exe. W32 DLUCA TROJAN,
Can someone point me in the direction of any free remover for this,
It wont let me delete the file, says access denied.

thanks in antisipation.

Spaceman - 28 Mar 2005 09:54 - 3152 of 11003

cloudbase try downloading the trial version of Trojanhunter from here

http://www.trojanhunter.com/

This is an excellent program and may well deal with your infection.

I have now purchased a licence but the trial version is fully funcional but time limited.

PS you may have to use Safe Mode to clear some infections

DocProc - 28 Mar 2005 10:02 - 3153 of 11003

Cloudbase

Downloader.Dluca is a downloader Trojan Horse that sends information about your computer to a specific Web site and creates a shortcut on your Windows desktop.

You have my sympathies. In fact, I reckon this is harder to deal with and far worse than Bernie Ecclestone losing the wheeels off his new Merc.

I found some thorough instructions for dealing with the W32 DLUCA TROJAN here:

http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/downloader.dluca.html

Cloudbase - 28 Mar 2005 12:01 - 3154 of 11003

Cloudbase - 28 Mar 2005 12:18 - 3155 of 11003

DocProc...thanks for that link, have done a ful scan withSpyware Doctor and
Spacemans Trojan hunter link seems to have removed it, or is it lerking else
where? Will need to get expert help to follow steps in your link as am complete
Techno twit.

Spaceman - 28 Mar 2005 12:35 - 3156 of 11003

Cloudbase, glad its gone now.

A general comment on trojans, The method Doc posted almost certainly removed cloudbases trojan. However having spent a fair bit of time now removing trojans from PC's, I have noticed that often by the time a single infections is noticed that there are often several other infections also present. This is the reason I now use TrojanHunter in preference to other methods. Its the best trojan tool I have found so far. It also has some useful tools built in that enable investigation of problems.

scussy - 28 Mar 2005 13:15 - 3157 of 11003

how does TrojanHunter compare with AD-Aware and spy-bot search and destroy,
or are they diff programs,i also have running MS antispyware,

steve

scussy - 28 Mar 2005 13:20 - 3158 of 11003

just found a review of trojan hunter,

http://www.anti-trojan-software-reviews.com/review-trojan-hunter.htm

just downloaded trail and thankfully have no threats,do you get more options when you buy the program,

Spaceman - 28 Mar 2005 18:20 - 3159 of 11003

scussy, trojanhunter trial is fully functioned but time limited. Its not realy comparable with S&D or adaware as both of them are designed mainly to remove spyware. Trojans are different beasts they are virus like and often designed to do damage. However there is a considerable crossover between the various malware.

Not everyone needs trojanhunter, if you take care and use virus protection (AVG is good enough in my opinion), along with Spybot and adaware and a firewall (preferably in your router) then you should be OK. If you suspect you have a trojan infection you can use the trojanhunter trial, however once you have used it you wont be able to use it again unless you can work out how it knows that it has been instelled before !

scussy - 29 Mar 2005 14:00 - 3160 of 11003

hmmm, after installing trojanhunter, did the scans and shutdown last night, when started again today there seemed a problem with new software as it give me the start in save mode screen,oh i did not panic,it just give me the chance to do all the scanning in save mode, all done and not a problem, the scans i did :-

nortons AV
AVG AV
ad-aware
spybot S & D
MS antispyware
trojanhunter
with these scans i also have XP firewall and and firewall in my D-Link router,
so will buying TROJANHUNTER complete my security,it's only $49 and if it detects a trojan before it gets in it will be a good buy,

Spaceman - 29 Mar 2005 14:14 - 3161 of 11003

scussy, you have a pretty good arsenal of protection software already ;-)

My view is that Trojanhunter is cheap and worth having and I have purchased it. However your current tools will probably keep you safe without
it.

scussy - 30 Mar 2005 12:49 - 3162 of 11003

thanks spaceman,as you say it's cheap and can save loads if it stops them,it does not seem to slow down my PC with all the security running,
and this is with AMD Athlon XP 2000+,1.67GHz,1.25 GB ram,i will prob get a new PC next year and have it just running my charts,
